It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. My 03 1.8 started leaking a week ago and I finally had time to do it. Wheels up to wheels down and cleaned up was under 4 hrs. My part was 25$ from partsource in Calgary and a new coolant sensor. I was surprised to see how soft and distorted...

Wish I took a "before" pic, but here she sits now: I installed a catch can, phenolic intake manifold spacer, did a minor wire "tuck", deleted all of the emissions systems, replaced the mechanical fan with a mishimoto electric one, some other little odds and ends Big thank you to all of...

Did by myself in about six hours. Car turns and runs well, just has noise from cam chain. Im assuming its normal and maybe i am being paranoid. There is a low amount of oil in the engine and the noise could possibly be due to lack of lubrication??? Anyone with any thoughts?

Custom Intake project almost finished - V6 Speed Tuning USA chip I ampologice for not putting this in the exhaust project. Since these are 2 separate projects, I just decided to create a new thread. Now the ongoing battle between stock air box and CAI has been going on for a decade. I myself...

I just want to say Thank You to all of you who helped me get on the right track with my timing belt change. Every thing is back together and the car runs quiet and great. The problem was a combo between the timing moving from not using the crank locking pin. Also 1 of the plastic covers was...

Well in all honesty my brother did, and it was the original plan that as soon as he pays it off he will sign the title over to me so that the baby is mine (i know, i know, we are the living embodiment of Philadelphia's motto) However, the engine died this weekend (sludge issue), and the dealer...

Well in all honesty my brother did, and it was the original plan that as soon as he pays it off he will sign the title over to me so that the baby is mine  (i know, i know, we are the living embodiment of Philadelphia's motto) .....BUT, sh*t hit the fan this weekend and the car got the...

After much searching, I finally found a new arrival at the local wreckers. A B5.5 wagon, with an intact interior (well, at least what I wanted was intact). So I took it out, and went to work on my car. It went fairly well, although the plastic tabs on the bottom of the console (where it...

After many months of debating between magnaflow and borla and digging all over for part numbers... I finally finished my exhaust on my 2001 B5 V6 Passat With 130K on the clock currently, the resonator has been replaced with a magnaflow 10426 18" resonator and the magnaflow muffler is a 11225...

Hey all! Finished up the install on my snow performance kit tonight on my 2001.5 1.8T and thought I'd share some feedback, how I did it and my thoughts on the kit. First off it I used the Stage 2 Boost Cooler kit from Snow Performance. Turns out they have a 1.8T specific kit, but I didn't learn...

I just finished the most major repair I've ever done on my B5.5 Passat 1.8T. The only issue is that the fan is on all the time. I expect I forgot to plug in a harness, but I have no idea which one. No check engine or even pending codes after about 20 miles after I cleared the last ones (via...

just finished doing the latest mods to the car; did my headliner in black suede, changed out my door cards with black leather, and fabricated a heat shield for my big ass turbo! next I plan on doing the pillars in something special, haven't found the fabric I want yet.

When I sold my Passat I sold everything that I could except the stereo, minus the boxes, because I knew it would fit my new CC. I wanted to knock this project out before I started school this year because I knew it would nag at me if I didn't and last week I got everything up and running. I...

OK that's like asking to get blasted, but I think I did a pretty good job. I'm an old guy by now and this was the first time since I was a teen that I did any serious work on a car. I owned this 2000 since it was purchased new. By last Sept, it had developed a bunch of issues that needed...

So, got everything (mechanical) back together. The closest I could get the timing was with the cam sprocket less than a half a tooth advanced. That should be alright.... right? Either way, it started and ran well for a few minutes last night. Still haven't driven it, but that'll take place...

For those that are interested, I had a wreck in my 03 GLS sedan but the motor only had 40K since a complete rebuild so I found an 02 GLX wagon with a blown motor that I bought and did a motor/tip swap from the old one to the new one. I had issues with the wagon with a bad ABS controller and...
