Just added the vvme hids and now am looking to convert the car over to e85. Looking to see if anyone else has gone through the process. First, I know it can be done. I was hoping to hear how others have done it for the Passat specifically. I've done it in my brothers evo tuned on an apexi...

So the sticker on the car says 91+ only. What would happen to the car if you tried that e85 stuff? I have access to E85 on the Navy base. Alot cheaper too, but with the cheaper price, would that preclude me to believe there would be more issues?

Ok, so I had about 5 gallons of 91 octane in my tank, which in IL is already 10% ethanol (virtually all gasoline is E-10 here). I've really been wanting to run butanol as an alternative to gasoline (just because I want to). Some very good info on this can be found here...

Here are the latest Dyno numbers from my car. I am pretty happy with the numbers, now I just need to improve my clutch. It was slipping on the last pulls, as I expected it would. Uncorrected Corrected Set-up: K04 GIAC Software - tuned to run E85 Performance Arts FMIC Testpipe Stock Clutch...

I read that some cars were capable of using e-85 long before it was trendy or well-known. Does anyone know if any Passats fall into that category -- especially the 2.8? If not, what kinds of modifications would be needed and is it worth even thinking about it from the environmental, performance...
  9. Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I am waiting for a new K04 program from GIAC and have begun feeling like my car is boring. So I have been experimenting with Ethanol in my Passat. After lots of math, and some help from my partner at the shop, we figured out how to properly fuel my 1.8t for e85. We did the conversion for...

Any one out there running E85 in there cars yet? I have been thinking about a lot over the past few days. Is there any thing I need to do to the 18T to get it to run on E85? There is gas station around the corner from my house selling E85 for 2.05 and 91 octane is 3.17
  12. Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Hey Everyone. I was wondering if you could convert a passat to run on e85. I have a 99 1.8 but I don't want to limit the discussion to just that engine. I’ve also heard that e85 is equivalent to 104 octane? Does anyone know if that’s true? Also, if it is I’d be interested in knowing if we...

A few stations in town are now selling E85 gas...or gas that is 85% Ethanol. I'm not sure of the octane rating, but wonder if the Passat motors can run on E85? I have the 2.8 and would like to try as it's about 50 cents cheaper than hi octane. Any thoughts....(other than making comments about...

E85 is 85% ethanol. from what all hear it is burns really clean and can dislodge deposites. Firstoff can we even run e85 and if we can will these deposites hurt anything as they are being cleaned away. E85 lessons our dependicies on overseas oil and is about 25 - 30 cents cheaper than regular...

Does anybody know whether E85 (85% ethanol) fuel will work "flawlessly" in a 1.8T? Primarily for everyday driving. I know there will probably be some caveats like what engine firmware is being used. Will the engine itself hold up to the extra octane and corrosiveness? Thanks,
