I've got a 2014 AllTrack 170bhp TDI. I do a mix of short (often from cold) and longer (~40 mile) motorway journeys. I use an app to track my fuel consumption brim-to-brim and over the last couple of years I've averaged 35mpg, which seems a bit low. Anyone else care to comment?

Sorry for the long post but I'm trying to give as much info about my problem. Have had the car (2002 1.8T wagon 5spd) since new. Been able to do all the maintenance myself thanks to the info on this forum but am stuck now. Actually considering having a mechanic looking at it (I know, the...

I had high fuel consumption which was due to a broken exhaust not providing enough back pressure to the sensors. Have you checked this?

I have a 2001 VW Passat V6 Wagon 4 Motion with 250,000 miles. It is rated to get 17mpg city and 22mpg highway. However the way I drive the average fuel consumption in the dash is usually between 25-28mpg.

I have a new 2016 Passat with the 1.8T. The car is great and runs great. We finally are up to 1500 miles on it. I bought it with 5 miles on it. I checked the oil today and it seemed to be almost halfway down the cross hatched part of the dipstick. So I guess that is almost a half quart low...

So my relatively new to me 1.8T is using oil much faster than I would like. I have been doing some informal tracking (by memory rather than writing stuff down) and it looks like it would go through ~1qt of oil in ~1000 miles when I got it a couple of months ago. Not great, but from what I have...

i recently bought a 2002 passat with a 1.8t engine. It has a lot of white smoke when sitting at idle. It also eats oil like a hungry fat boy. After reading online it kinda sounds like it's the turbo. I just want to make sure, can anyone give me some pointers?

I appreciate your thoughts about this situation that I had a couple of days ago. 98, 1.8t, SW, 285.000 mil. No check engine, no VCDS codes. So, I started the car this morning and drove about a mile or so, stopped at the light and smelled smoke. Looked behind, saw constant blue smoke coming...

Hello All, 1.8T AWT (AWM) Passat. 144,000KM on the clock. No noticiable oil leaks or burning, no smoke (well except when I turn on, a very faint amount of smoke comes up until the car warms up, no cloud or anything just a small stream). PCV changed something like 4,000KM ago, and haven't had a...

I'm consuming a peculiarly high amount of oil (1qt/800mi). I have no clue where to start being as the oil plug and filter are both securely fastened and affixed to the car. What could possibly be causing the issue? Could it be the PCV or the turbo on the way out or a junked up throttle body...

1.8T Passat, Today I finally tested on long distance. On highway It consumed little less fuel than assigned by documentation. However in city when I drive with 20 miles/h It consumes 3 gallons where it should consume 2 gallons. Is it normal? transmission works good, no issues it switched to...
