  1. Broken V-band clamp on 2.0T

    Volkswagen Passat B6 Discussion
Hey everyone, I recently discovered an exhaust leak that turned out to be a broken v-band clamp on the stock turbo from my 2010 2.0T TSI engine. I've attached a picture of the broken one, and a new one that I found online (after much searching...). VW do not list this as an individual part...
  2. part number for a clamp

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I lost this clamp, so the hose connecting to the air filter box is loose. Does anyone know the exact size or part number for this clamp? BTW, I believe this is for the secondary air injection, am I correct?
  3. cv joint clamp

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I bought a kit for inner cv joint ('00 V6, manual) which came with a clamp "oetiker 97". It seemed a little bit large but I proceeded. Now it fell off. It seems like VW part has to be "93.5", which might be oetiker 16700088. I cannot find a small amount of those clamps (or one step up...
  4. CV Boot Leak Past Clamp

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I spent hours under the car replacing all the control arms, and I couldn't help noticing all the grease coming out around the CV boot on my axle. This is an axle I picked up from Autozone about a year ago. It is not torn, there are no holes. But it seems way to much grease is getting out and...
  5. Where to clamp negative terminal when jump starting

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Hi, I have a 2.8 V6 4motion. Can anyone tell where I should clamp the negative clamp on my battery booster, space in the engine bay is limited. I've been clamping it to the negative battery post but I recently read this is dangerous as the battery has gasses that can explode :ambulance: if it...

  7. Removing radiator hose CLAMP from 2003 PASSAT v6

    B5 Garage
I need to remove the coolant hose that runs from the reserve coolant tank above the engine to the engine block. I need to get this out of the way in order to work on the valve cover gasket. Part of the problem is that it is a pain to get at and there is a compression type clamp that holds the...

  10. Fuel filter clamp removal suggestions?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Hi Guys, Dumb question, I know...but before I go and accidentally cut my fuel line on my 2002 wagon, does anyone have a recommendation on how to release the fuel filter clamps? I read some posts here where it's admitted it's a little tough and to be careful when cutting these off. I've tried...
  11. How to temporarily plug rear banjo clamp brake line?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Question says it all. I disconnected the rear brake line at the caliper by this "Banjo" Clamp (I think it is called) and the thing is leaking more than I want. I don't know how this fitting works, is it just put a plug in the little hole at the bottom of the bolt? It can't be...

  13. Can I clamp the turbo coolant hose?

    B5 Garage
I'm getting billowing white smoke on cold startup, and think it's coming from the turbo. Can I clamp the coolant inlet hose on a cold start, to starve the turbo for a moment and stop the smoke? If so, does the coolant flow out of the radiator on the top or bottom?
  14. leaking CV boot grease passing the clamp

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
a few month after replacing the CV boots and repacking grease, I notice that the grease seeps out very so slowly. Both side are seeping. I plan to wipe them clean and try to clamp tighter; then wait and see what happens next. Any suggestion or advice? In addition, should I be worried about...

  17. Exhaust Double Clamp Replacement

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Yesterday when I started my car it had gone from being its reasonably quiet self, to making a loud fart can sound. I had already replaced the infamous flex tube, but this wasn't the same sound as it could be heard at idle and had a backfire type of sound when shifting. By the end of the day I...

  19. CV boot clamp problem

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
So, I've got the CV apart and have the new boot in place. Then I put the small boot clamp in place. I can't for the life of me get the thing latched to crimp it. I've tried using pliers but it doesn't go far enough to latch it. If I latch it first, then I can't get it into place, it's too...
  20. Fuel filter clamp question

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Hey guys... OK so I just got finished replacing my fuel filter. Boy was the gas that came out of it dirty. Almost black! I assume it was likely never changed in the life of the car. I'm at 100k miles right now, got it at 70k. Figured I've had it for 30,000 miles and I should probably do it...
