I am debating whether to install a cold air intake or a catback exhaust on my 2012 Passat 2.5l. Which one would give me the best bang for the buck? Also, by installing either, would it cause the check engine light to turn on, if so how would I fix that?

Just got home from the shop:driving: a little bit ago where i just got a 2 1/2 inch exhaust made up, and all i have to say is wow!! that really makes a difference. I don't know if it's just because i had a hole in the flex but man this thing is so much better, now it's time to chip it :thumbup...

I was just quoted a price for the following:
-A complete cat-back custom setup including 2.5" pipe,
-Slip welded seams,
-A Magnaflow dual-in/dual out mid muffler/resonator,
