what is the thread of these bolts? In the luggage compartment of my wagon there are three large black plastic panels that link together to make the "floor" of this area. To remove the panels I remove the fisher-price-style hexagonal threaded "plugs" (plastic nuts) that hold the panels in...

I am worried about the bolts breaking off when trying to disconect stock downpipe on 2003 1.8T cause they are sticking pretty good. They won't budge. I don't want them to break off in the CAT cause that would be a pain to tap those out. Any ideas or suggestions?

I just bought a set of ATP Spa wheels real cheap. While I was trial fitting them I noticed the threads of the bolts did not stick out as far past the inside surface of the hub as they did on my Wellingtons. I did a simple test and found that it took 4-41/2 turns to get the bolts tight on the...

I read this in the haynes manual. You must use new caliper bolts when you have removed them. Do you DIY-ers do this? It looks to me you can simply re-use the bolts. Just clean, apply a bit of loctite and re-install? What would be the reason to use new caliper bolts?

The topic says it all. Haynes is pretty emphatic about replacing the 2 bolts for each caliper. However, I haven't heard anyone on the boards mention this before...are the manual editors just trying to be extra cautious? Can't take any chances with brakes...
