I had my mechanic change the pads and rotors all around and put new rear calipers in as they were seized. Now I have a spongy pedal, if you press it twice the second time it is super firm. It wasn't like that before all the work was done. Also looked at receipt and it says dot 3! Dot 4 is on the...

So my expansion tank started leaking, which helped tear open the return oil cooler line, I wanted to ask whether or not I have to bleed out the lines after i replace it, and where should i clamp the lines down so that i won't drain out the whole system. Or alternatively, would it be better to...

fellas, i just finished changing my oil cooler seal, and i go to add coolant to the car and i notice my bleed hole is on the right (driver side) of the two heater core hoses and it is exposed. the last time the car had a coolant flush was by a dealer and about a year and half ago. my questions...

Hi all, I'm bleeding the brakes my self for the first time ever. :O The whole reason is b/c the FR brake line was cracked. I've had more trouble than I should due to a faulty pressure bleeder that wound up with me draining all the fluid out of the RR brake line :banghead:. Got a 2nd pressure...

like the title says, anyone done this? my car sat for a couple of days while I got new calipers, then when I went to install them, I discovered I had been sent two right rear calipers (twice!). I started bleeding the rear brakes tonight, and no matter what, I had a soft pedal. I was using a...

After searching for days, I just couldn't find much info on how to easily reach the clutch bleeding screw to perform a thorough bleed on the clutch. http://www.passatworld.com/smilies/banghead.gif So maybe this will help some others with the same challenge. My Passat is a 2003 GLX v6, FWD...

I drained my system after a sad accident =( Anyway need to bleed the whole system as I replaced all calipers now... Where do I start ? With clutch or calipers ? Or is that "optional" ? Thanks in advance!

One of my brake lines rusted and started to leak. I couldn't fix this in a month so I just let it be. Today I replaced the brake lines and I noticed almost all brake fluid was gone. Is it possible to bleed the brakes the "normal" way with the pedal ? Or do I have to take it to a VW garage when...

Guys, i need to have the brakes on my 02 passat 4motion bled. stealership wants $137 for it. anywhere i can get it done much cheaper?

I'm rather new to mechanical work, so this is probably a dumb question. I'm replacing my thermostat on my 2004 passat and I expect to lose some coolant. Can I just refill the coolant, or do I need to bleed it? I don't see why I'd have to bleed the heater core, and I don't know of any other place...

Finished up doing the timing belt/thermostat/waterpump and a hand full of other maintenance items on this 2000 Passat 4motion I bought for $300. I flushed the heater core and did a full flush including the block, and now I'm trying to bleed the system but having big problems. I found some other...

Hi all, I have seen many posts regarding bleeding of the clutch hydraulic system and many times the person does it but cannot get all of the air out and hence they are left with half a pedal that does not want to return quickly. Last night I had the pleasure of replacing the master and slave...

I sent my clutch bleed screw to Paul at Gruvenparts and he is looking into making this from metal (aluminum, or possibly stainless). I felt that it may be a good idea, given how many seem to get a stripped hex when they are used for bleeding, and that you could replace the stock one if you...

I've looked at the coolant flushing DIY and it shows two coolant bleed points (3/16" hex screws). My B5.5 '02 Passat GLX V6 has the front bleed point, but not the rear one (under the reservoir). In fact, many things in the pictures are different. Bentley manual is unhelpful as well. Does...

How do I do this specifically on a 02 Passat 1.8T? I have seen several threads, but I need a step by step. Car is overheating at high speeds last week, but now needle slowly moves past 190 after apprx. 6 miles of driving. Replacing water pump, tb, tensioner tomorrow. How do I bleed to system...

I bled my brakes yesterday. I had forgotten to press the pedal to build pressure after each bleed. Now the pedal goes upto half way in when engine is off and doesn't build pressure. When engine is on it goes 3/4 of the way in. Do I just need to do the full flush again?

This is the one right next to the combi valve. The front one still works. It's a 5 mm hex head, totally rounded. I tried getting a slightly larger 7/32 hex head in there but wouldn't go. Tried a needle nose vice grip on the outside but its too tight a space. The first question is: should I...

Is this the aft coolant bleed screw on a B5 V6? If so maybe the picture will help someone else as I couldn't find a pic on the forum. (The Allen socket is taped to the extension) Note also how the plastic breather hose shattered when I removed it to access the screw. Coolant reservoir is also...

I know the n75 redirects the air away from the wastegate via a bleeder valve my ? Is what if you were to splice into the line leading into the wastegate if splicing a tee into this line and redirecting the "bleed line" back into the wastegate what would this do has anyone tried this? And if you...
