History
Although far from my first VW, this was my first B-series car. I had been driving/progressively upgrading a 1991 Jetta when I started dating this girl I met at a motorcycle safety course. My Mk2 had been a decent car but around that time I started having issues where it would decide to die and not restart, stranding me on a couple of occasions. Even though I had almost everything needed to build an ABF 'clone,' (including a Euro 50mm 16V intake, freshly rebuilt and machined 16V head with TT cams, new forged pistons, etc...) I didn't want to scare this chick off with an old Jetta that wasn't reliable. So, I found the Passat. I actually had the opportunity to test drive an '03 W8 sedan with the 6-speed manual, but couldn't bring myself to paying what they wanted. Settled on the GLX (2.8 V6) with 4Mo.
