  1. Removing black residue from white car

    Wax On, Wax Off
Thanks to each of you for your reply. Although we didn't get the residue off, I am going to suggest that my friend try a 1:30 mixture of Simple Green and water. I think the Simple Green will work because of its de-greasing "properties." More information...
  2. Removing black residue from white car

    Wax On, Wax Off
Hello Forum, I am helping a friend detail his white car. Unfortunately, there is a black residue on the sides of the car that will not come off with a normal wash. Its a thin, film like coating. You can remove the residue with your finger or a cloth directly, but I am afraid this might not be...

Sorry to hear about the accident. Like everyone else, I'm glad you're ok.
  4. Leak from the rear of the car

    B5 Garage
Hate to bring this thread back to life, but I thought that I owed it to those that contributed. Got the car back this morning, only to learn that the pool/leak wasn't from my car. Kind of bittersweet. Bitter in that I made such a fuss over nothing. Sweet in that it wasn't from my car. Again...
  5. Leak from the rear of the car

    B5 Garage
JTL, you are absolutely right. You did suggest that first, thanks. I still don’t know the results. I dropped the car off at an independent garage this morning. From the way he made it sound, I won't be hearing anything from him until Monday.
  6. Leak from the rear of the car

    B5 Garage
I haven't a clue, haha. Altair 4, Mycarsavw, and a few others could be right. Maybe it isn't from my car. It's getting looked at tomorrow so time will tell. Barrys, Jay, and everyone else who chimed in: Have a good weekend.
  7. Leak from the rear of the car

    B5 Garage
we can see its a 4-mo - its labeled on the rear of your car in the first pix you posted. Ok, I just thought I would mention it. was the fluid directly under your car in the first pix, and you moved it to show it? I did not move the car before taking the first picture. have you smelled it...
  8. Leak from the rear of the car

    B5 Garage
Thanks to those who tried to help based on what little information I gave. I realize now that I should have been more descriptive. As such, I have taken two more pictures. Before I made the thread, I tried to identify the fluid but had no such luck. For what it’s worth, it is a GLX 4motion.
  9. Leak from the rear of the car

    B5 Garage
I snapped this picture with my cell phone when I noticed the puddle under the rear of my 2001 Passat. I'm still not sure what the fluid is, but the leak seems to be pretty substantial. The car was only sitting in that spot for a little over an hour. Does anyone know what the problem might be...
  10. In the middlde of changing headlights and have a few questions

    B5 Garage
Thanks Mcdowec I appreciate you helping me out. Mrgreek2002, the clips that you speak of are the ones that I am missing. And, yes, I realize that it should have been a five second job.

Corradog60stage4, To be honest, I don't even know what/where the condensation vents are? Sounds promising, though. Can you give me a little more info, please?
  12. In the middlde of changing headlights and have a few questions

    B5 Garage
After everything was said and done, I went and washed the car this evening. Go figure. Condensation/fogging in both headlights. Oddly enough, the fogging is in the exact same spot in both lamps. :banghead: Ideas?
  13. In the middlde of changing headlights and have a few questions

    B5 Garage
Thanks Mcdowec  I managed to get the harnesses unplugged. Still don't have any clips, though. Do you guys think I should be looking for replacements? Or, is it not something to be worried about?
  14. In the middlde of changing headlights and have a few questions

  15. How do the eBay / Depo headlights hold up?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Jherman, I bought my badgeless from Dubstop International, an eBay Store. Unfortunately, there was an issue with the order's processing. As a result, they gave me a $20 dollar credit toward any future purchases. Check them out, I know that they still have the eBay Store. They treated me right...
  16. How do the eBay / Depo headlights hold up?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
I know that there is thread after thread regarding headlight replacement options. My question goes out to those that have had the eBay/depo headlights installed for a while. How are they holding up? Any hazing/fogging? Any words of caution? I went to an indy garage to have my OEM headlights...
  17. Proud Passat Moments

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
Yesterday proved to be a long day. I drove from Upstate NY to Charlotte, NC for an appointment that only lasted a couple of hours. Then, I turned right around and drove home. It was a power-trip through and through (minus the fact that I drove the speed limit much of the way to save gas). She's...
