Powerwall will be available once the Gigafactory is up & running next year. I don't think German has a problem, over supply of electricity generated from wind is not a problem, storage is. Texas has similar situation. Texas Wind Farms Generate So Much Power Utilities Are Giving Electricity...

hu vw - Not at all, I think this is all positive and informative discussion. If I sound like a Tesla fanboyz, my apologies ... wait, re-reading some of my posts I do sound like one, lol. I just want to chime to give my two cents on this topic from an actual EV owner perspective, that's all...

GB - Yes it would be embarrassing if true. Mercury News missed a digit, Tesla actually paid subcontractor $55/hr. Tesla bash continue ;). Tesla paid $55 per hour to factory builders @Electron Man, to GAAP or to non-GAAP, that is the question for many listed companies, you speak of this as if it...

GB, Elon never shown the car, there were many unofficial renderings of the Model 3 floating the internet, but none looked like what was unveiled yesterday. Battery technology will be the same as what's in Model S/X (hence Gigafactory). Compatible with Supercharger, charging spec is the same as...

Agreed, the single most expensive component in the Tesla is the battery. Model 3 profit margin won't happened until the Gigafactory is up and running. Detroit is already playing dirty, unleashing lobbyists to prevent Tesla from selling direct, forcing them to go thru middle man mark up dealership.

Tesla has the highest gross profit margins of any US automaker. The reason they are not yet in the black is because they reinvested all their gross profit into capital expense for rapid growth (infrastructure, R&D, manufacturing plant). The Gigafactory is a huge expense, but once up and running...

I think there are lots of misconceptions in your post, and unfortunately this was also my thinking prior to owning my Tesla. Let me explain from my perspective an actual BEV owner for over a year. I get about 285 miles of rated range per full charge, and in actually, 90% plus of the general...

I believe the future is here already, and Tesla has proven that BEV is the way of the future. I'm far from being a tree hugger, and I bought the Tesla P85D, this car is by far the best car I've ever owned. I'm now convinced BEV will eventually replace ICE as daily driver for the mass.

Plenty of rain here in Houston, also. 10 day forecast is calling for more rain. Funny just a few months ago we were in a severe drought, now too much rain... feast or famine!
