any metric buna-n o-ring (correct size) will work , just will not last do to oil additives, heat, and chemicals, ,would definitely use OEMs in this instance

passat03wagon beat me to it (not hard to do) the o-rings are parts #21 (2 of them) They might be some kind VW "moon polymer" but you have to drop pan to replace.....but while in there if you find by checking resistence/ohms etc. a bad component now would be the time to replace

The wiring harness has a "quarter turn" twist lock and of course has internal seals which maybe dried out or "tired" the internal wiring loom for the solenoids and sensors (the other half of the quarter turn connector) has maybe ? two? o-rings that seal it to transmission housing ,it is inserted...

on the website I suggested "46 fanatics" in this thread #43, you need to look at it's post #11, it shows what the N90/MV-3 solenoid is doing in your VW Passat the other tables are for BMWs so be careful when reading, at the bottom of the schematic drawings they usually say for BMW or VW

re-visit website highlighted in post #43 there is a detailed chart listed within that post/blog as to what solenoids are "on" or "off" in each gear selection. As to the number N90 ,I was able to find a cross reference as to what valve N90 is the same as ,equivalent to in regards to MV /EDS...

You have to be careful stealing those things,LOL, two known sources Navy and Ebay . They are great for checking insulation integrity in wet conditions , like the interiors of Passats

Picked up TCM harness "plug" at a local pull-a-part last summer and finally finished potting the wiring today.....concept is to check the complete wiring from TCM to; range sensor, transmission speed sensors, and internal solenoids for continuity and resistance with the ability to identify...

may have to do heater core with some CLR and "swish" it back and forth and then independently clean/flush engine, might have to remove thermostat housing to do this effectively......definitely worth the effort versus HC replacement, I got a "Nissens" and am happy with it.......a "cool" engine...

Just a thought, at some point in time, crap ( plastic water pump parts,who knows what else floats around in these cars) and has been acknowledged ,the brown sludge has permeated the system, I would say your radiator is clogged not allowing any flow. Your fan will not come on as the temperature...

Victor Reinz is perfectly fine ,dealership's probably is some type of "moon polymer" ,I mean if it is so darn great why would it ever need to be replace, let me know any insights as I have to eventually do mine at 230k miles, I use a lot of Victor Reinz stuff on my B5.5 with no problems

the high and low pressure sensors are on fuel rail, check first for connections and any possible compromised wires maybe accidentally damaged when working on water pump timing belt
