  1. moonroof shade off tracks?

    Volkswagen Passat B5 Discussion
thanks! a.s. p.s. I got a tip from Sharky as I recall, and pretty much like Inkarnata describes was able to remove the sunroof from the inside pretty easily (no removing the headliner), then got the shade out, replaced the guides and got it all back together. I think I have 3 of the originals...

just to wrap this up, the indy guy i took it to (Midwest Motorworks, Hudson, WI) decided we should try to replace the transmission control module (TCM). He sourced a used one and installed it, $137 total. Problem solved. I just need to decide if I'm going to program this one to run the old...
  3. tranny issues, P0605

Here's the version I sent my vw tuner guy: The car gave a loud / heavy Thunk!, as if I had hit something pretty big and then the P R N D 4 3 2 lights all flipped to reverse contrast so I couldn't tell what gear I was in. Tip mode didn't work, and the car seemed to be stuck in 3rd as it was...

Hi guys, The Passat is acting up. It's a 2000 1.8T Tiptronic FWD ATW. It has about 102,000 miles on it. I've had it since 66K, did the big timing belt service and had an O2 sensor go out but that's about it. Yesterday we were sitting at a stoplight and the P12345 lights all lit up and it...
  6. "HELP" brand speed bleeder size (length) confirmation?

    B5 Garage
hey thanks, yeah once i got the nerve up to just pull one of the old ones out it was apparent that the length wasn't going to be an issue. so i got new pads (XBG), rotors (brembo plains), speed bleeders and fluid done this weekend. probably took longer than it should have but that's pretty...

Hey AA, I don't have any engine mods but was wondering about upgrading the pipe anyways. I saw your post about yours when I was searching, I'll go check that out a little closer. I think the Indy mentioned < $200 for whatever he was looking at, not sure if a/m or OEM though. Starting to plan...

:) dealer wanted $600 for the exhaust and $400 for the brakes (was in for the heat shield recall). thinking the Indy shop can have the exhaust work and i'll do the brakes at some point. i'm doing the fronts on my wife's T&C at the moment, while she's stuck with my loud-*.* car. :D a.s.

Hi guys, Figured I'd say better say hello... Passat has been running well, just the routine investments at Midwest Motorworks (TB, etc.). Here today due to a major exhaust leak (flex pipe, probably). Dealer says rear brake pads are at their limit too, so that's on the list now. After about...
