My daughter's 2008 seems to have a blower issue when the ac is on. It will run for a couple of minutes than cut off for a short while, than keep cycling like this. The compressor is operating normally, it's just the blower. It doesn't matter what temp the Climatic temp control is set at and it does it whether or not your driving or at idle. I could use some help getting this fixed so she can enjoy her ac in our ungodly heat. Could it be the blower resistor? I know they will make the blower not work at all speeds, but can it cause this problem?
Yes, on the Climatic the faulty thermal fuse usually faults completely so that you only get full blower on switch position 4
But yours is tripping in high ambient heat. Confirm that it doesn't do it in night time having vented the car first by driving around without blower switched on and all windows open?
The ceramic blower resistor could've gone high or your blower motor's running dry
The cabin fan (blower) motor is located behind the glove box. Here’s a good how-to with helpful pix for a LHD ‘08MY estate: VWVortex.com - DIY: Fix Your Squeaking HVAC Blower Motor
93ºC thermal fuse -- do not solder into tags as heat will destroy it -- clean the remainder of the wire after cutting out old component. Clean wires of replacment. Twist-crimp together
Thanks for the link to the write-up that will come in handy. It was doing it at night and just for fun I switched it over to heat and it did the same thing. Now the fan has quit coming on at all.
Here's what I got so far. I pulled the glove box this morning and checked for voltage at the blower connector and had 12v. I figured it was a bad blower motor so I installed a new one. After plugging it back in it ran for a minute and then shut off. I went ahead and changed out the resistor since I was already in there and still nothing. I rechecked for voltage ot the blower and had nothing there, I also checked for voltage at the resistor plug and had less than one volt at each of the 4 terminals. Any ideas? Does the climatic system have the sensor in the center vents? Could it be that?
