I just got my 2001 passat with aug engine to run but now i hear a loud rattling noise coming from the car. I think it the cct but not sure. What else could it be. I could hear a rattling sound before but it was barely i changed the crank case hose and spark plugs and the noise is super loud now.
If you continue to run or even crank the engine I expect you will soon destroy it.
I suggest you get someone who knows what they are doing to check it.
yeah I'm not gonna touch it anymore, but the car was working perfectly fine. All i did was change the crankcase breather hose and then that started to happen.?
You said you just got it to run. What did you do to it other than change the hose and spark plugs?
If the plugs are incorrect they could be to long and the piston is hitting them but I would bet the car wouldn't run because that would be almost instantaneous damage to the plugs.
before i changed the hose i did the timing belt, the car was running perfectly for like 3 weeks even went on a road trip, noise started after i changed the breather hose.
Now knowing there was other work performed recently. Something tells me it's related to that and something inside the motor either came loose or broke.
I would say tear it back down and find what's getting knocked around.
It sounds to me like a noise at camshaft frequency, so in the top end (or big exhaust leak). There isn't a lot that could be caused by the breather hose job unless you dropped something in the throttle body that worked its way to the intake valves. I would check for a stuck lifter, cam chain or camshaft problems.
Another possibility is a faulty, loose, or badly adjusted TB tensioner.
There are a number of possibilities, most of which could cause serious damage.
As before, I suggest you get someone qualified to check it.
So I went back today and checked my work . I redid everything but still didn't work so I completely removed the crankcase breather hose because the car ran without before and the car now is runing perfect. So I'm think there's a problem somewhere there what could it be.
The only thing in the PCV system that is likely to make a loud noise is a faulty PCV Valve.
The recording does not sound like a PCV Valve, but sometimes recordings don't reproduce some sounds well.
hi, i got the Passat running. There was a loose ground on the coil pack harness that blew 2 ECU Fuses.
You have missing PCV Pipe, Seal, & retainer spring plus here is also another PCV Valve that is broken that is causing a massive vacuum leak not allowing the car to stay running. Have to constantly accelerate to keep it running.
There is also a coolant leak somewhere. Throttle hose is missing a clamp. I have yet to put the car in the air to inspect
Hello, i'm looking for info on my issue and noticed yours, I hope you don't mind.
The video you shared the car seems to be running without struggle really besides the noise that sounds like it's blown up !
Why does what the mechanic told you not reflect the fact it was running when you arrived there or was it not running on it's own when you took it to him ?
