I agree!, I hope you get more shots of you on the track! Its nice to see a B5 doing that! I would love to try that some day! Looks like alot of fun to run our cars on a track to see how it does.
Hmm.. could that be a possible gtg?

I think Ian Prout is supposed to be taking care of things like that.
Chris (FlyinVR6) -- what's up with that?

Nice track shots!
I have a few questions: Did you notice any major improvements in performance when you installed your chip? I have a 2002 GLX V6 with 4Motion and it needs about 25 to 30 more horses to make it feel right IMO. I cant get (nor afford) the supercharger here in Germany and they don't sell many v6 gas engines here. Mostly 1.8t and turbo diesels hence no mods available locally for my ride. And do you feel that the brakes are a little weak as if they were made for a smaller car? Mine seem to be a little lacking, but I had a Dodge Stealth RT/TT AWD before this car so I am a little spoiled. Thanks for any input and nice to see another V6 4Motion owner out there doing some mods. To many 1.8t's that get all the cool performance upgrades and not much for us. Mike O. (ger) |

Good to see another 4MO person out there.
The chip helped somewhat, but I'm not sure it really did THAT much. I could definitely feel a little more "kick" in the seat of my pants. Having said that, I know that JonBoy and BoeserBlick are really happy with their Upsolute chips, so that may be a more aggressive chip than my GIAC. As for the brakes...well, they're fine for stop-and-go traffic in NYC. On the track, however, they definitely need some upgrading. I tried to be gentle on them while I was driving, so they held up okay -- but I know that my instructor was pretty brutal on them and faded them at one point (I wasn't in the car at the time, Ron -- vw18t -- was and said it was a scary moment). I'll probably try the Porterfield R-4S pads with upgraded rotors and brake fluid, see how well that holds up. |

Cool Ill do a search on those names and see if they posted any performance data.
Yes the brakes here on the autobahn do the same to me at about 80-100 mph they tend to fad and get worse with time if you use them alot at those speeds, but hell who needs brakes on an autobahn lol. |

I don't think they posted any performance data on their profiles, you should just IM them and ask.
quote:
Yes the brakes here on the autobahn do the same to me at about 80-100 mph they tend to fad and get worse with time if you use them alot at those speeds, but hell who needs brakes on an autobahn lol.

"Brakes? Sweetest mod is definitely the Tufts University license plate holder.
In all seriousness though, the car looks sweet.

Thanks, guys. And yes, I know I need to give that thing a bath...
Gimme until spring, I'm planning on taking it to the body shop to get all the dings and dents out, as well as a fresh coat of paint.

Ahhh, Porterfields = $$$! Axxis Ultimates is the way to go! Though very dusty, it's good dust! Wipes off easily!
And don't waste your money on silly cosmetics. A well trackked car should look just like that, a well trackked car.

Andy...
So which org. do you drive with on these track events? SCCA or PDA...? I've seen pics with you using a open faced helmet... why not a closed face to protect those teeth? and what rating is it? When are you going again... I feel like making a 4Motion show out of it!!!

Hey, Justin.
I usually go with SCDA (www.scda1.com), but I'll probably go with PDA for one or two events next year, since SCDA doesn't run at Pocono. My plan is to run with SCDA at Watkins Glen in May and New Hampshire Intern'l Speedway in late summer, as well as Pocono in late summer. As for open-face helmets...well, I don't wear contact lenses anymore, and getting the helmet on with glasses on (or glasses on once the helmet is on) is a bitch unless it's open-faced. Since the car has an airbag, I thought I'd just take my chances. Most of the groups require at least a Snell 95 certification or better. I found a Snell 2000 helmet online for something like $80 + shipping. Do a search under Yahoo Shopping. |

Andy, enjoyed your track pics a lot! Haven't been to Lime Rock, but it looks a lot like Summit Point, which is where we do our track events (not with the Passat, but with our 90 Jetta GLI).
A bit off topic, but do you work in a hospital? Just curious, since one of your posts mentioned "hospital executive." My screen name originated from the fact that I am a hospital risk manager. ![]() Nice changes with your B5, keep up the good work! |

Nice hospital web site, Andy! Ours is www.stagnes.org. St. Agnes is a Catholic community acute care hospital, with the full range of services (and problems!). Good hospital though and a good place to work as a risk manager.
