Hi Ernie,

I was doing a search for boost gauge installs and I saw that you have one. A-Pillar is out of the question for me, so I was wondering where you installed yours.

Thanks,

Errin

the 42 designs one is pretty much just a blank din with holes drilled into them. so essentially yes thats how the gauges were mounted. but what ernie did was buy a blank face plate and make the holes for the gauges.

i helped another cb5 member (swett) install it into his open slot. a boost and a/f meter that is

Hey Ernie,
I'm thinking about removing the stock suit case resonator and replace w/ either a pipe or something that'll give me a better sound but certainly NOT the drone sound or too loud, all while leaving the stock muffler. I was told that you did something similar and would like your opinions and how much did it set you back? I dont' expect any performance increase other than a slight better sound, so I assume it should not cost me more than +/-$100 or so???

landarcht, yeah it was a pretty simple mod. what i did was i got a 12inch glasspack installed inplace of the suitcase resonator. the 12inch is louder/drone. for less droning etc. get a longer/larger glasspack. something like an 18inch should be fine. at the time i got mine the shop only had 12inch ones and since i dont like waiting i just settled for it. but i am very satisfied with it. you can try valley muffler wayyyy down on valley. near walnut/la puente. ive been told this costs about 40-70. i paid about 60. glasspack and installation. hth

james, lol i know!! Argh oh well hehe. yeah once i get some free time ill give you a call.

So you think 18" will have less drone? I'm wondering will it ever get lounder as time goes on? How about the muffler? Did you change that too? I plan just to keep the stock one on. I'll check out Valley Muffler, how's their reputation? Thanks.
