Default Passat vs Trabant video

LMAO

For those that dont know, Trabant was an eastern German car during Communism....with body made out of cardboard.

The Trabi was also an air-cooled, two cylinder engine.

I remember sitting in German class in college and watching a video where a guy was driving one on some expressway. Obvious though it was, we still laughed when it broke down as he tried to push it over 90 or 100 kph. Rather than wait at the roadside for assistance, the busting out a hacksaw and a hammer and took the whole thing apart.

That was awesome.

It wasn't made of cardboard! Who told you that shit? It was a cotton-fiberglass compound. Pretty easy to replace if you had a crash. Therefor the whole car was only 1200pound in weight. And yeah...it was going 70-75MPH. Wanna more facts: 600ccm (0.6Liters) and incredible 26HP !!!

Just one more info for you guys. In 1989 they build a couple thousand Trabants with a 1.1/1.3 Liter VW engine (some 45 HP or so). You can see it on the gas cap on the rear-right side of the car. On the older once you had to open the hood to refill. This one on the video does probably have a Corrado G40 or G60 engine in it. Fits perfect and beats everything !!!!
