Does anyone else notice little creaks and pops coming from your rear seats? I think mine is emanating from the fold down armrest...I think perhaps from the hinge area. I have applied felt in certain spots surrounding the leather on leather contact areas to no avail. Getting really sick of it...I'm about to take out the armrest entirely just to shut it up. FYI I have a 2003 GLS with leather. I hear this stuff over little bumps, i.e. reflectors in the road...little stutter bumps...and turns with bumps. Any ideas that actually solve this entitles you to a 12 pack of your choosing. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a warranty? I had panel replaced on the rear of the passenger seat that was vibrating as well as a heating element that needs replacement (still waiting on the order from Germany). Fortunately, a warranty covers this stuff. I'm not too thrilled with the quality of the 2 front leather seats on my variant to be honest. 2 issues right off the bat, and they don't hold me in place when i'm pushing my 4motion around turns.

True...but the dealer has already been down that road with the armrest assembly before...just the thing is so noisy. Problem is the Passat is so quiet you hear EVERYTHING

Are you sure it isn't the two seatbelt buckles (with the red push button) touching one another? It was on my wagon and took me over two months to determine what the heck the rattling was in the back seat. Now I just tuck one of into the crack such that they cannot touch each other. Another thing I would imagine you've looked, but do you have anything in the middle arm rest that could rattle?...what about the ashtray? Anyways the buckles were the cause of my aggravation...now solved.

Well...I might try the seatbelt tuck, but I am not optomistic. But the creaking is definitely the seats rubbing. It just sounds like things shifting etc...popping...moving around. Just whole back seat sounds loose. Sounds like a POS. I'm dying to take a ride in someone else's to see if mine is the only one that does it, or I am just too anal about it.

When I got my Variant back in '99 (it's a 2000) I had a squeak/rub sound from under the back seat. When I flipped the lower seat cushion forward there was a factory lift ring welded to the floor panel. It's supposed to be there and there's a notch in the bottom of the seat for it. It was just slightly misaligned. A couple of taps with a hammer straightened things out.
