This is pretty much what I was planning on doing.
I have a new IBM Thinkpad for work, and half the time it's locked in the trunk anyways.
I figure since it's there, why not put it to use...

well you asked for one that's illuminated... oke:
how about a touchpad instead of a trackball? i have one that i bought a LONG time ago when i considered putting a carputer in my merc cougar (back in 01) it would have worked had i not wrecked the stupid car... twice... uke:
the brand is Fellowes... its got a white case, but i anticipated sanding and painting with plastic paint... on the back it reads "Standard TouchPad 99840" and references "Slidepoint", which im assuming is the company that actually makes the "pad" part of the touchpad itself...
For the money I would go with the presenter. But the best thing would be that remote that the guy with the F150 had. It was a full featured remote tha also worked as a mouse. I dont rember what it was called. The only drawback was tha it was infrared instead of wireless but he did not seem to have any trouble.
just out of curiosity how much did this cost u without the labtop. I have a toshiba satellite also and was thinking of doing the same thing. Are u using a touchscreen of any sort or are u just mounting the labtop somewhere ?
THere is also I believe a keyboard that has the mouseball on it.
just got a nice laptop and i need to find a stand for it.
i bought one a couple of days ago and i was wondering if anyone knows of a nice stand that i can put it on. i wouldnt have to leave it in there when its hot or when its extremlly cold/ live in IL. Does anyone know how to wrig the sound to my car speakers. maybe if i got a unit that has an imput to input a line 1
For the stand you have a few choices, what height do you want to mount it?
There a mounts for the center vents, or others that connect in the side of the HU others that screw to the dash, and gooseneck models that allow you a little more fexibility with mounting.
For the sound:
1. are you using the OEM head unit, if not what do you have?
2. Do you have a CD changer
