Finally getting a suspension. Need Opinions

Hello all. It hass been a while since I last posted on the forum. It looks like I am finally going to invest in a suspension for my 2K B5. My concerns are as follows:

- Ride height ( do not want it too low as there lots of bad roads and driveways where I drive)

- Do not want a bone jarring ride (I know this depends on the tastes, as one persons jarred bones is anothers satisfactory ride)

- Durability (Do not want to have to replace after 30K miles)

I will have the work done a Dub Werks in Libertyville.

Also the two setups I am considering are:

Eibach Prokits w/ Pro-Dampers

and

H & R Sports w/ Bilsteins

I would to hear peoples experiences, what was the final drop, ride comfort, and "If I had to do it again I ....." (fill in the blank)

BTW, I live in the Chicago and would like to hear about winter experiences with a lowered car.

Thanx in advance,
Dj

P.S. Pics of the these setups would be a plus :)

hey i am on the same boat too. i was reading up different members' setups and it seems like eibach's combo provides better ride comfort, dropping around 1.2-1.5 inch. on the other hand, bilstein and H&R seems like a very firm aggressive setup dropping around 1.75 inch.

i have temporarily decided on the eibach setup + neuspeed rear sway bar. does anyone have experience with bilstein with other springs? they seem to have a very good reputation for their shocks and i am curious see how well it goes with other springs besides H&R.

thanks guys.

I'm looking at suspension stuff too, though I probably won't get it till next spring or summer (rims first). Does anyone have an opinion on Koni shocks, i know they're adjustable. Also, does anyone have any experience with using lowering spring with OE shocks. I've heard that can cause problems

I went w/ the VW springs and the EIbach dampers. I have 17" wheels. The ride is excellent. Bottoming out has never been a problem. The look is not terribly aggressive but it is nice on the eye. If I could do it all over again - I wouldn't change a thing...honestly.

i chose the bilstein+neuspeed setup, i live in the big apple and i can tell you first hand this is perfect for urban thrash and bump and great for the rural stretch, some say its a modest drop. i think the drop is fine for 17' and perfect for 18'. fully loaded with big boys my car seems to handle better than when its empty, you just sit into the turns and ride out...of course you gotta have sway bars baby! good luck on your chioce!
