looking for advice...

Got a question here. I'm looking for advice to help out my gf... We've recently discovered her car was in an accident with 'moderate damage.' However, the stealership she got it from flat-out refused to give her the service records before she got it, and now the car (93 Toyota Corolla) is starting to show problems probably related to said incident. We're already trying to get a copy of the police report, but what level of recource do we have? What action can we take here in Wisconsin? The real unfortunate thing is the purchase was almost 3 years ago, so we could be SOL.

Except in a few special circumstances, when a car is sold as is - it's as is. Some states have lemon laws for used cars, but looks like WI isn't one of them: http://www.dot.wisconsin.gov/safety/consumer/rights/lemonlaw.htm

That should always send off huge warning signals. If the seller isn't willing to show service records or anything else of that nature, then most likely they're hiding something. :nervous:

Almost always, used cars are sold as-is, which means any problems the car develops are your problems to deal with, no matter what. :(

Here's part of what I'm wondering...aren't dealerships required to show you service records if asked?

Sad, but true...i know...just hoping there's something more we can do (wish we'd been together when she got the car...i'd have told her not to)
