OEM 16" passat Wheels for sale

I tried to post this in the classified section but it wouldn't let me. I have a set of 16" OEM wheels for sale locally in moreno valley ca. Rims are in PERFECT condition, no road rash or scratches. Has a set of Michelin tires, the just need new valve stems. I took the OEM TPMS off to put on my new wheels. Hit me up with any reasonable prices for them. New (to me) 2001.5 Passat 4Motion

I had posted the below on the NOOB forum without any response. Hopefully someone can give me a bit of a steer here:

1. The A/C runs for a short time (sometimes measured in seconds; sometimes in minutes) and then quits and blows only warm air.
2. The ride is CRAP. By that I mean that when you hit a bump, it "wallows". He drives on Denver's I-70 and spurs and it seems obvious to me that the car needs new shocks/struts.

I asked him to get an estimate for the shocks/struts and he made some local (to Denver) calls. He was quoted for $13-1400 for all four corners and a four-wheel alignment. Really?!?!?!?

I also asked him about the A/C and he said that it was NOT low on refrigerant (R-134a?), but there seemed to be some other problem involved. Any thoughts?

My next move is to get to Denver next month and drive the car back to Alabama. That's about 1500 miles on crappy shocks and across the middle of the country without A/C. Since I never had A/C growing up (I'm 63), I'll live. My early John Deere didn't have shocks either and it never got on a smooth road -- I survived that as well. However -- I've gotten spoiled over time.....

Any input MOST welcome.

Ive just bought a 2002 passat which has knocking coming from the rear lower ball joints I cannot remove the bolt securing it on as there is not enough clearance to remove it once lossened can anyone help

Hello,
We have a 2002 V6 Passat GLX 4 Motion with 110,000 miles. Flex pipes rusted through and very little decent metal left for rewelding. Indy wants $750 and Midas wants $650 for flex joint replacement. I hate to have that done and then have prob with any of cats.
I found replacement direct fit from Eastern Catalytic for about $280 apiece and Catco for $350 each. Has anyone used these? I don't want to spend a ton but want to make sure they will fit properly and function well.
Does anyone have recommendations? Also, should any of o2 sensors be done at the time? They are expensive!

Well in all honesty my brother did, and it was the original plan that as soon as he pays it off he will sign the title over to me so that the baby is mine :lol: (i know, i know, we are the living embodiment of Philadelphia's motto)

.....BUT, sh*t hit the fan this weekend and the car got the dreaded "STOP..OIL PRESSURE" message. This had happened to my brother before and he recalled getting it fixed; so he resumed driving it and assumed that it was a faulty sensor. Long story short, the engine started grinding and "sounding like a train" yesterday so he pulled in slowly to a dealership. They took a look at it and said that the engine is shot and we are looking at about $8500 in repair costs: with ~$8000 being the cost of the engine and the ~$500 being labor costs! :cry: we could both get some decent used cars for that money!!

However, unlike my brother, I haven't given up hope on the Passat; there must be some options we could explore. I'm hoping to find some cheaper engines (i've seen a couple on Ebay for around 2K) and maybe even someone who wouldn't mind working on an engine swap with a complete and total noob --hopefully cut down on the labor costs by providing some of the labor lol :hmmm:

This would be my first car and I want it to be special. This is also my first post, be nice haha.

Hi Folks..I'm a newbie, couple weeks ago I bought a 2000 4motion 2.8 wagon. I Love the car. I need simmer rims and tires and found a set of Audi rims for a decent price. They're Audi Arties or something like that. 16 inch, 5x112mm..tires are Continental contact 215/55/r16. I checked them out on an Audi rim site and new they have center caps, but the ones I'm buying don't. I'm in eastern Canada..are they expensive? Hard to get? And are the rims and tires the right size for my car?

Hello guys, every tuesday a lot of locals and some from a few miles alway gather to socialize and show off their cars. It's pretty calm but once in a while cops will roll by and see that order is in place. Anyone is welcomed but I'd like to see more Vw's and audis rolling in and it's courtesy to keep your music down and your rpms low as we want to keep this meet cop free. There's about 60+(88 last week) cars in front of home depot and theres plenty of parking. Heres the address:

window regulator pre-installed on backing plate

Can someone tell me if the kits pre-installed on backing plate are a good idea or not? I was thinking it might be easier to get that than the cable kit. I searched ebay with "passat window regulator driver front" and found quite a few.

Buying an impound 2004 B5.5 with no keys?

Can you say 'pig in a poke?'

Because it is in impound there are no keys--and they will not let you onto the lot with a locksmith.

I have read multiple threads on the remote/key/immmo--but they all assume you have some place to start.

Help me think about a procedure to get it unlocked and off the lot, since the time they give after purchase is not generous.

Can I simply get a valet key cut from a VW dealer using the VIN.

Would their turnaround be fast?

If I have a new valet key matched to VIN--I can I start the vehicle, but the immo kicks in. However, I should be able to unlock the car and have it towed.

My understanding is that the valet key and any remotes/keys I acquired would have to be programmed by the dealer to be recognized by the system before they would be useable.

I'm assuming I would have to tow the car to the dealer to get this done?

I was wondering if it is possible to get the large magnet with the plastic already attached? I went to all the auto salvage yards in the metro Phoenix area and I give up and would rather just purchase it online. Does anyone know the part # or a decent place to get it?

Turbo Replaced

Short version... twice...

First turbo recently sucked its waste gate into the turbine, jamming it. Car was drivable; but, barely. No power at all from idle.

Replaced it with a rebuilt (from a mechanic I trust) unit. That one broke the shaft in under 100 miles, and put about 2 quarts of oil into the exhaust sytem as a result. The smoke was unreal...

I just replaced that unit (tonight) with a new OE unit (that was stashed on a suppliers shelf for a number of years). The smoke was still fierce on start up; but, it has gotten better since I started driving it. Cleaned as much of the intake as I could during the installation process. I also drilled a small hole in each muffler assembly to let any liquid drain out.

Is there any otehr way to clean out the residual oil in the exhaust; or, do I simply need to drive the car to burn it off? Car runs great, other than the stigma of stinking up the roads!

Headlight questions 2000 passat

I'm considering buying some direct replacement headlights for my B5 passat. I've searched and read many of the headlight threads on this site and have learned a lot however I have two questions regarding the fog lights and wiring that I can't find answers to. On my car I pull the headlight switch to turn on the fog light which are built into the headlight however there seems to be no mention of the fog light option in the replacement headlights.

What do people do for fog lights when using replacement headlights?

Wiring question: How do I tell if I have H7 or H4 wiring? These replacements require H7 wiring.

Warning about pre throttle body meth injection (Story)

So today I was driving my 2000 1.8t and all of a sudden the epc light came on. I assume throttle body issues due to the loss of power, I was 100 miles from my house and the car had no power I was only able to do 15-20 mph uphill. So i turned around and start heading home and about 20miles from my house i was driving 65-70mph the car started shaking randomly like a very aggressive misfire. Hooked up my little bluetooth scanner and found code p0221 ( code for throttle body)and a code for bank 1 fuel trim , I check the live data and the afr is at 19 while driving (not downhill).So I restart the car since it helps for a little and i made it home,installed my spare throttle body. Pulled the old one apart and found water in it (Picture below).Drove the car over 100miles with the used throttle body and no issues.The moral of the story is to make sure your w/m injector isn't filling you throttle body electronics. My nozzle is 4 inches from the throttle body, I am going to relocate it right behind the throttle body. I'm just unsure about the throttle body being able to cause a fuel trim code or make the engine run lean?

The bottom sweeper thing is all green from corrosion.

New (To me) 1991 VW Passat

Bought a 1991 VW Passat GL for my sons, and am currently working to get it back in working order. Fun so far, but having trouble getting everything back in the right places. Slowly getting there. Wish there was a diagram of where all the wires etc go behind the dashboard. If anyone knows of a good link/resource, I would certainly appreciate it.
