Hard starts with warm engine (1.8T)

Recently my '03 1.8T has been experiencing hard starts but only after the engine has reached operating temp. When its cold it starts fine, but when warm it cranks over and doesn't seem to want to start for a second or two but eventually fires up. I see a bad cooling temp sender can cause this, but I don't have any problems with the temp gauge on the dash (reading is fine, no erractic movement) so must be something else?

The sensor is two parts. One part sends signal to the ECU, the other part sends it to the dash. It is very common for only only part of it to fail. Get it scanned. Another issue may be the RPM sensor, but that tends to be more erratic.
