2002 B5.5 5spd 1.8t - Silver/ Black Leather

This is the way the car came stock, as you can see the wheels and suspension were a major improvement.

This first shot is with the Bilsteins set on the lowest perch.

This shot is with the Bilsteins set at the second perch from the bottom. The extra 10mm of height is just enough to stop the rubbing in front.

I just put on the suspension and wheels as of last weekend, 8/24/02. I had ordered the Neuspeed Sport Springs, which is what the box said and no indication of the spring model on the front springs, but when I went to install them I noticed the rears said Sofsports.
I thought to myself, I will try the sofsports instead of the Sports I had ordered to see if they meet my expectations. I was using Bilstein Sports from a '99 (new) because they do not have the struts out for the 2002, but since I had the slotted fronts (set to the lowest setting) I did not need to change the seat and packing.
As you can see the car rides pretty low, which is a surprise, so I don't exactly know what the deal is with the Sofsports. I would be scared to drive the car with Sports.

The only complaint I have of the wheel/tire and suspension setup is the rubbing of the tires on the wheel well liner. I haven't heard of other Club B5ers having really any problems running 235-40 but my setup seems to rub quite often, still looking for a remedy to that problem. The tires are rubbing at 12 o'clock on the plastic fastener that holds the wheel well lining in place. Other than that, I am really happy the way the car turned out.

Sweet. I really like the rims. Where did you get them? performancealloys.com?

love your wheels.... I didn't know Neuspeed softsports dropped that much. Looks like your front is about 1/4"+ lower than H&R Sports. I think you can probably raise the perch settings on your fronts to fix rubbing.

Anyways, your car looks great in sliver!... http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/wink.gif

Thanks for the complements. I really like the wheels because they give it that OEM look. Tonight I am going to try and place the perch setting on the second to the lowest setting to see if that stops the wheel rubbing with out making the car look like it's is sagging in the rear.

I will post more pics up when I get that done so people can see what the difference is between the two perch settings. http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/crazy.gif

Some more pics I took of the car after reinstalling the front suspension. I decided to try putting the perches up to the second setting from the bottom. The rubbing problems are solved, I guess it just needed a little more clearance.

Your Passat looks really nice and has a "clean look". It will look even "cleaner" after you debadge it http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/biggrin.gif
Good choice of shocks/struts too!

I was thinking about getting some RS4 wheels that I saw on ebay, but they had the Audi symbol on them and I wasn't sure how easily it would be to replace it. http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/crazy.gif

FIX YOUR PICS!!!! I have to see those wheels and tires (just e-mail them to me if you can't get them working on here) - I want to get that exact setup eventually... And I am riding about the same height as you with my H&R OEs and bilsteins.
