Nice modding concept! http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif I very much like your approach on the performance mods, it's very well balanced and thought out.

I'd like to ask a few questions though, if you don't mind.

Have you ever dynoed your car with diff stages of tuning? I'm particularly interested to see the ATP turbokit's powerband (especially with and without the 3" exhaust).

Is your 3" exhaust fully turboback, w/out a cat? I'd be also highly interested to see how much you gained from it. I'm also thinking about this mod myself.

About your CF hood, how do you like it, and how much does it weigh roughly? The CF hood I have from import fan has been less than satisfactory, so I'm thinking about replacing mine with something better. I'm also going to get a CF hood later on for my CRX, and I might also get one from fiberimages if things work out.

Are you going to race your Passat? It sure would be fun to race another highly tuned B5 on the track. If you're interested, I would highly suggest you consider checking out the Dubwar road race event in Buttonwillow, CA this August; http://www.dubwar.net . My car will be doing the beginner group, and I think another supercharged V6 Passat will also be competing. How can you resist? http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

Ronald, no problem on the questions...

#1 I have dynoed it stock (141HP 155 Torque) APR chipped (164HP 212 Torque) and with the ATP kit first installed, stock exhaust (265HP 242 Torque). I have not redynoed it with the 3" exhaust or the Greddy Profec as they are still working on it.

#2 My exhaust is a true 3" turbo back with a relocated 3" cat, resonator, and muffler. No idea of power gains yet until the chip tuning for the turbo is done. No check engine light now that the O2 sensors are installed! http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/biggrin.gif

#3 I really like my CF hood. It does sit a little high at the front corners but if you decided to use hood pins the fit would be perfect. I choose not too and keep the clean look. Fiber Images seems to have a very good reputation for hoods. I would recommend talking with Chris at Diablo Autosports and tell them David with the black Passat wagon sent you. If you are interested in buying one he can set you up on a reasonable price for it. They are the NorCal distributor for Fiber Images.

#4 Race, hadn't thought about it. I should be able to considering the brakes, suspension, and motorwork I have but I am worried about messing up the bodywork. I have a full bodykit and don't want to damage it. I will be at Dubwar I just can't guarantee that I will be racing. We'll see...... David

P.S. I should have a new dyno sheet for Dubwar!! I am trying for 300HP to the wheels... http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/biggrin.gif

Duncan, I can't remember the actual pricing but you can order the rear Dietrich Tuning wagon bumper cover from Paul at PG Performance. I love mine, it fits very well once you get it on. David

P.S. You may have to cut out a notch on the bottom to clear the exhaust tips!!

This is one of the reasons people are fascinated by my ECS Tuning stage 3 brake kit! The nickel is actually wedged inbetween the spokes of my custom built Intro-Forged 19" wheels and the Porsche caliper! The rims were custom made for this brake kit. Even though the clearance is remarkably tight I have been driving this way for most of the year with no problems. I love these brakes!! http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/biggrin.gif

Wunder Wagen
02-10-2003, 01:50 PM
Thumber, I really don't have any undercar shots. The exhaust is the ATP 3" system. They might have something on their website. The PIAA foglights are actually double stick taped to my radiator. Sounds funny but it works. The grill actually wedges them in against the bumper to hold them in place. The light coverage is about the same as the factory headlight based foglights and the grill keeps them from being stolen too. As for the magazine article, it is still pending but should be out soon. Wunder Wagon, this is weird. I was just checking out your wagon on the club and remembered I had just seen your exact wagon on my new issue of Eurotuner.

What caught my eye was first the wheels and then the fog lights inside the grille.

Nice job on the details of your show winner!

By the way, you won't be the only wagon representing the North Bay, Tracy area. I'll be moving up there in a couple of months. I'll be moving into the Standard Pacific Homes, Lourence Ranch community. Ring a bell?

Maybe, we can hook up? Swap some ideas for some mods to my daily driver. See you out there...... :D
