View Full Version : Anything needed from VW in Germany?

Airwalk
07-08-2002, 02:05 AM
Hi all,

i just booked my flight from good old germany to NYC at mid of august ... and got some space to take some 'rare needed' parts for the B5-fans with me ...;-)

So: If anybody needs some parts (W8 Light, Xenon Parts, etc.) from Germany - just tell me!!

I can ask here for new and used parts - and take them with me to New York City ... (sending them from there - or you can pick up them at my hotel ;-)

btw: if there are some B5-Owners near NYC - maybe we could meet us in Manhatten and do some discussions ;-)))

with kind regards,
Dirk

A front Euro license plate bracket/frame that fits flush to the bumper (painted would even better, reflex silver) for the B5.5/W8.

Like this (if you look close enough):

Thanks you very much for the offer, can you check the price of these?

Ssssssssssssshhhh, it's a secret:

Rub strips:
3B0 807 717 B GRU
3B0 807 718 B GRU
3B5 807 423 D GRU

Those last three may by a little too big though. I may be able to line up another part from a private seller, would you be willing to bring it back to the US to save me shipping it? It's a VW part, but I don't want to let the cat out of the bag about what it is until I've bought it. I'll IM you with details if I can line up a purchase.

Thanks again!

How much do they sell the W8 HID's in Germany? Is it much cheaper then the $1500 or watever that I've seen charged in the states? If so, I may be interested.

I may be mistaken, but I think that antenna angle is a Japan-only part

Okay.. i got some price updates:

Hope, i found all you need (and the right parts) :-)

for aowhaus
=======================================
Mhnnn, normally you need a complete Bumper i think ... this should be too great for my bags at the plane ;-) But i can get you something like this: http://www.euro-sign.com/euro_step.htm - for about 2-5 Euro's

If you want, i'll take some used german "License Plates" with me - i think, you guys can screw anything on your front, can't you? ;-)

for jwil:
===================================
Ssssssssssssshhhh, it's a secret:
1J0 051 322 - send me an Email for this with precise infos - i found this part but with no price - need more infos about it ...

Rub strips:
3B0 807 717 B GRU about 35 Euro + 25 Euro for chrom part (NEW)
3B0 807 718 B GRU about 35 Euro + 25 Euro for chrom part (NEW)
3B5 807 423 D GRU about 45 Euro (NEW)

for jtpassat:
=====================================

I'm waiting for this part myself about 4 weeks now - should be impossible but I#ll try my best - maybe i can get a used one ... price: ???

for mrkazoo:
=====================================
I would prefer used one's - because of prices about 800-850 Euro's. But i can't guarantee, that i can take them with me into the plane - because of height etc. - i will talk to airline .... maybe i must send them via TNT or something ...

for trnj99glx:
=====================================
Haven't seen this part in Germany yet - but i will ask for it ...

for pjizzy:
=====================================
could you get me a photo or a partno. for this? I couldn't find something like that ...

for gufi21:
=====================================
err... sure our headlightgs are with glas? I thought it is plastic, too - but anyway: NEW headlights are about 180 Euros for each side - for normal 3BG - W8 in Germany is only sold with Xenon ...

for NUISANCE:
=====================================
You mean such a thing: http://www.euro-sign.com/euro_step.htm ???

If yes, i can get you some for about 2-5 Euro ... with some advertisment from germany dealers on it ...

Forgot someone? *G*

Dirk

Thanks Dirk for looking into it.

I currently have the Euro plate frame on mine, but because the bumper curves in two directions, the plate could not be installed flat against the bumper (right now there's a big gap between the back of the plate and the bumper surface).

I saw european B5.5's with and without the front plates which leads me to believe there is a VW OEM painted frame/bracket part for it (similar to the U.S. models), not built into the bumper, but no one seems to know anything about it.

be careful what you ask for...

Actually, I want to "KNOW" if the MTM Carbon Fiber airbox is available for the 1.8T and if so, HOW MUCH? Nobody's been able to tell me. I suspect it'll be fairly expensive but would like to know anyway. (And in USD please.)

HermanH - I think the Euro is about 96 cents on the Dollar right now. It really sucks for us modders, because it was at 87 cents on the Dollar four months ago. http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/frown.gif

Hey Dirk,
I have been looking for the Euro style CLEAR non HID's for the '98 B5 1.8t. All i really need are the covers, dont need, nor want the whole assembly. My OEM ones are ridged and cracked due to tons of highway miles. Would LOVE to have lenses that match my clear corners. What would the price be first?

TIA

Hi everybody,

i'm glad, that so much people are interested in B5-stuff ..

... BUT ...

... please be so precise as possible with your questions about prices for parts ...

It's very difficult for me, to translate your technical english to german and find, what you are looking for ...

.. the best would be, if you could show me a picture, a link or a part no. - otherwhise it's nearly impossible to find parts from other company's (expect VW)

I can't find prices here for e.g. the IN.PRO parts - because i don't know where to search for ... also the MTM parts ...

The prices for crystal clear non HID covers would be about 170 Euro each side for a NEW one ... used parts schould be cheaper ... (if it's really the crystal clear part - i couldn't check it right now) ...

kind regards,
Dirk

This isn't for a B5 but for my Jetta http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/angel.gif , or Vento to you . Could you look into getting me a used set of headlights for a 94-98 Vento ? The euro lights are SO much better than what we have here. I promise I may be getting a B5.5 variant soon http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

Looks like the GOLF IV parts ...

But here in Germany, No for the "blue one's" are:

1J1 857 521 G and 1J1 857 522 P
(about 35 Euro) (about 32 Euro)

I could get some with me to NYC if you want ...

Mhnnn, used parts for cars 94-98 ... ? I can look around for it ... but aren't new ones a better buy?

If i'm right - these parts are NEW about 120-140 Euro (x2) - from Bosch, Hella, VW, etc...

Hope, that helps ...

I saw your thread when it first appeared & was quite impressed with your offer! http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif At that time I thought I was a happy camper. http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/angel.gif

Since then, I've decided that I want the blue tinted / aspherical mirror glass for my '98 Passat's passenger (right side) side view mirror. I know this was available for the Jetta. I don't know the part number yet and am not expecting it to be available in the US. My car has electric (remote) / heated side view mirrors.

I know I can get the full size (175mm) drivers' side blue glass here in the US.

If this doesn't work out - no big deal. If it does, YOU DA MAN!!!!!
Let me know if you find out anything: enkl@att.net

Thanks!

Edit: I just saw FastPassat's post above mine & wanted to make sure I was clear.
The full size - 175mm Blue mirror glass is/are available here in the US (from http://www.parts4vws.com ) but I specifically want the SHORT mirror glass for the right side view mirror (approx 120mm).

These are the part numbers for the Blue tinted and heated wide angle mirrors for the B5 (175 mm)
Drive Side : 1J1857521C
Passenger Side : 1J2857522C

Is it possible to get these?

If you need the 175 driver and 105 passenger in blue ... its no problem ...

btw: these parts are from Golf IV 25th Anniversary Edition .. they are the same for the passat ...

But if you need a 175mm for passenger - i'll have to ask first - because the 175mm for passenger side is not solf here ...

I would have a 175mm for passenger-side (complete with all parts), electrical heatable AND electrically foldable ...

Could someone be so glad and ask a dealer for the price at US?

kind regards,
Dirk

I just re-checked my car's right-side mirror & the glass is definately 120mm across.

I've never read any threads that indicated that a Golf side-view mirror would fit a Passat, only Jetta mirrors.
Not sure if the Golf version is the right size, but if so, please let me know & please put me on your 'list'! http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif

I will call a dealer & check out those items for you - that is for the entire unit: mirror housing et al. I've seen threads that indicate that all parts (for the non-electric folding) total in the neighbohood of USD300-400. It seems that the way to go [for the non-electrically-folding mirror housing is thru a salvage yard (junkyard) - I've heard the manual folding ones can be had for $100. But it's hard to get one - I've tried]. I'll make a few calls tomorrow & get back to you.

Just checked with DANA Automotive in Northampton MA (VW Dealer) who said the entire thing is USD310. There should be a discount to ClubB5 members If Paul in their parts dept takes the order. I told them yr car was a '99 GLX but would need the correct yr/model info if you want to order it.

OMG ... i could order this part for aboutr 160 USD here in Germany - i just saw ...

prices in US are a little bit high, aren't they? *G*

I just send a couple of Xenon HID's to some guys who payed me with PayPal for about 720 USD - including shipping ... you guys pay 1.500 USD for that there?!?!

horrible, horrible ... ;-)

That's one of the reasons I don't have Xenon HIDs! (of course I want them for my '98, but I've been spending too much on other things!)

Yes, we call our dealers 'Stealerships' for a reason! http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthdown.gif http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthdown.gif
Captive market price gouging. Call it what you want. None of us like it. Also, it is a known fact that many dealers add their own BIG markups to the VWofA factory list prices.

Dude, we have been trying go get these housings for the longest time. Looks great with iy being clear and all, but no one can get anyone to get them to us here in the US for a decent price. Last I heard, it was going to be like 400-450 from some guy in Germany. Group buy was dumped due to high prices

Fluid
08-08-2002, 03:57 PM
Umm.. are you sure we're talking about the same thing? You're talking about the crystal clear housings (ie non-projector) which I've seen the GB attempt that was started by mnelson. The ones I'm talking about are like the HID assemblies, but sans the xenon bulbs. Look at the picture above and compare to the ones in the CC headlight thread - slight difference.

Fluid, I checked out what you were talking about on passat3b.de, and I agree that it seems that there are two version of projectors. I'd much rather get a hold of those, as opposed to the crystal clear's. I just remember a while back I was talking to Paul Sr. over at PGPerformance, and he said that projectors that use halogen bulbs weren't available for our cars. I had even asked about Valeo headlights because at that point I was under the impression that they made a set. Turns out that they do, but for Audi's.

Has anyone ever seen the non-HID projector style headlight for a B5?

Marty -

Yea... I had done some investigating regarding those as well having called around to several places who seemed to have connections. I was told Valeo might have manufactured those, but I got the same response you did. But... I know they exist as someone had sold them previously on here a while back. Unless, of course it was just a set of the assemblies for use with the xenon bulbs.

Well, I guess that's why we're here... to see if Mr. Airwalk can walk the walk and talk the talk to his connections! http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif
