Hey Herman! I'm moving to Sunnyvale in less than a month (from Mountain View), I'd love to see your car in person. I haven't done too many mods on mine yet so it probably wouldn't be too interesting....but maybe you could give me some ideas? Sweet car by the way...I like your website a lot too.

Hey Herman, Your car looks great!! Well I have told you that before! Hey on the emblem on the back of your car. I noticed that it almost looks like the Zender badge, but on your mods list it said VW racing? Can you clear me up on that, and where did you get that! Love it. Again, looking good

Becca, I'm so surprised you never heard of Colin's "Custom Emblem" thread that lasted nearly a year and a half and went to about 9 pages. It goes down as one of the "longest" Group Buy's in CB5 History!!! http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

Eric, it was probably about 3 months ago I think. Check my modifications page. It has the date. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif That was a group buy thing so it was under $200. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

I seriously should do that wood trim of yours. I gotta check it out first hand when I see you next. You should put a counter on your web site, I hit that thing at least twice a week, man! The info in there is just too good. Where else can I find specs for my 98?!! http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif
So what's your next mod? I really really hope you get to put in that k03/k04 hybrid of Juan's.

well, it was a lot of work for such a small item. If you go to my modifications page on my website and click the moving wrench for the Snub mount, you'll see how it was installed. I'm just glad it wasn't any harder than that.

Very Very nice car, wondering how much did the brake job cost you?
HermanH
12-23-2002, 04:49 AM
Jon: funny thing about the lights; they're not "as white" as the conversion kit! This could be because the method which is used by the Hella units v.s. the OEM reflective housing. While the OEM appears to light up the underside of a car in front of me, with much better light, it seemed to taper off past 20 feet. I had my adjustments maxed out on it's height and still could not get them very high.
On the otherhand, the Hella's were perfectly aligned by Bojan so it lights up more evently from side to side and much further forward; appears to be at least 50 feet.
So I guess what I'm trying to say is, the Hella units appear to focus the beam closer to like a 120 deg. swept area whereas the OEM's are more focused forward (narrower angle.) I could be wrong but it feels that's what's happening which might explain the differnce. Still, the Hella Xenon's are still brighter than a Halogen when I'm side-by-side with another car, behind a couple of cars. So the answer is I like the Hella's better.
Bojan, Zac: pics will come shortly. Christmas rush takes precedence.

Thank you. The fronts came to $1100, keeping in mind the Boxster calipers had 15K miles on them. I supplied all the labor (it's not at all hard.)

Herman, I juss wanted to say, you are by far the greatest B5er I've seen, your site is linked by many, and I can tell you, I've been stuck twice and your page with your installation tips have helped me out a lot, and I just want to thank you. Looking through your page, I haven't seen the Porche Brake Upgrade listed, wondering how much did the brake set cost you? And was it worth it...
Thanks again Herman! http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/bowdown.gif http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/bowdown.gif http://www.clubb5.com/images_forum/bowdown.gif

HermanH, I've checked out your website. Like everybody else, I too think it proves how cool you are.
Well now that I'm done brown nosing :D , I wanted to talk to you about doing a slew of upgrades to my 01' B5 Wagon Triptronic. I need them done by no later than the end of June, if budget is correct.
Who do you know has parts like this in stock or can get them quick:
Jetex exhaust
Neuspeed Downpipe
APR Chip
KW Suspension or something you would recommend for a daily driver
Intercooler
Or can you give me your opinion on what do?
I need to slap around this annoying Volvo Wagon I run into quite frequently.
Thanks,
Frank

wow, you just about called out everything that New Dimensions sells. What you might want to do is go to the ND show next week and tell em' you want to do a large purchase of everything and perhaps they'll thorw in a deeper discount than the normal show price! It's worth it if you have the numbers up front. The last one, the FMIC would be tough since I don't believe they have anything other than to order one from APR (which would be ok with me).
Still, I'd go to them and say "listen, I want to get all of this today for this much $$$; can you swing a deal if I cut the check today?" Do some up front research so you know what the best mail order deals there are because no matter what, the sales tax will be more than the shipping costs so keep that in mind when you talk to them.
June, eh? I have to check with the boss; she's put a kabosh on me working on cars anymore *sigh* but I'm more than happy to do little work and more "supervision" as long as people pay for the rent (my equipment) and experience. :)

HermanH,
Thanks for responding to my questions and concerns. I'll attempt that this weekend. After I negotiate and acquire the parts, I'll contact you to see if you have some time when the "BOSS" is on a leave of absence.
THANKS  ,

Hi Herman,
You car is looking good. Looks like you got those OEM HIDs installed-
Question:
Did you ever install those pieces installed, which allow you to adjust the camber on the front to factory spec?
Front tires are going fast round these parts-
