I think this is what you are looking for.

Just a heads up. You might want to post in the general discussion when asking things like this. Most people use this area for posting personal information regarding mods and whatnot. It was just blind luck that I happened to look in here.
Depends on what you want to do, you can always contact Thip as well, good friend and good place  .

With it being a '98 (old style belt tensioner) I would consider doing it very soon!
I did mine at 76k in my 2000 (new style tensioner)! :D

VW recommends 105k but the belt company says no more than 65k. Most people who have blown a TB with the old style tensioner have been well below 100k. Most on the boards would recommend 70k to be safe. It's more the tensioner, it starts to go and then vibrates badly on the belt and after 80k the belt just can't handle the vibrations and BOOM. Not trying to scare you...
(Think southern baptist style here) just-AH preaching the Timing Belt-AH Gospel my B5 brotherrrrraaahh
(passatworld chants "AMEN!!".... "Preach it brotha Cody!!" )
You can piece the "kit" together (all belts, TB, rollers, tensioners, etc) for around $215 plus shipping minus the water pump from stopshopanddrive.com
We can do it in about 5 hrs or less assuming no problems and my "price" is resonable. :D
You can always PM me with questions or help putting the kit togther to buy. Let me know!!

Anytime now:lol: Seriously though, you need to think about doing it sooner than later. Most of the chatter from club members with the B5's say it's a good time around 80K or so.
Check out this thread http://www.passatworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201058&highlight=timing+belt
Baisee00's comments are the norm for around here. Replace it around 80K and be safe instead of really poor and sorry when it breaks and does the damage.
Talk to Cody about it, I'm sure he has a little experience with these things. Right Cody;)

Did it about a month or two ago. Had some trouble with a crank pulley bolt that added about ~2hrs but got it done with no other probs. Discovered my new belt install process that makes getting the new belt on nice and easy. :D

Wow! You should have it down to a science when I get to needing your help.:D
I have to say, Cody. You are one guy that everyone who's had your help owes you a great deal. What you do is save everyone a bucket of money. I think once we get the local website up and running you will have to get B5 man of the year or something. Maybe we can post a big picture of you on the front page.:P

Thanks Alex... I like working on cars, always have. If I can save my B5 brothers some $$ at the same time, then double the fun. Oh yeah, here is me hating my clutch job:

How is the local site coming along?
I should have some pics of my latest project. Car audio overhual... I was going with a stealth idea, amps mounted under the package tray and now I'm going even more stealth and the are going in the little compartment where your cd changer and stuff goes. Should have some pics later next week. I can't wait for the TUNES!

I just did a transmission and clutch replacement. Thank god it was on a 1984 Toyota P/U and not on the B5. Was the clutch on your B5 that much of a bitch?
Can't wait to see the new stereo install.

It was just a long process... and I missed the pilot bearing and I think the old one is what is making all the noise now. I'll have to take the trans out again sometime.
Still fabing the "amp rack" but should be done next week hopefully.
