Hellllooo all. Not new to VW's (grew up on Rabbit's and Scirocco's) but I recently purchased a '96 Passat VR6 (5-spd) with under 93,000 miles after a long vacation driving other vehicles. Single owner before and she took real good care of this car. This car is super clean inside and out and everything works fine. The other day however as I pulled into work I noticed the Check Engine Light on and I also noticed that the mileage was exactly 93,000 miles. Is this just a service interval reminder or does VW not do that? No service work was mentioned to me when I bought the vehicle and I have not done any since purchasing it. The car runs fine otherwise and I haven't noticed any issues with it since the light came on. PS. So far I LOVE this car! What a rocket!

Just in case someone else looks at this thread I found out that the CEL is not related to mileage. I have a friend with a DTC scanner and I'll find out why it lit up.
