Not much, but I think it made an improvement on the way she looks.
Cost me about 50 bucks for all four door.

I'm in the same boat as you...or that you were in...all my handles are pitting, cracking, pealing, gay, ugly...think of something and it'll probably describe my handles. 60 or so bucks sounds like a good deal for all new handles...maybe I'll do that on Monday after school...since the dealership is about 5 mins west of campus.
Looks good, I like how it offsets the doors, and they dont look as plain anymore.
Anyone have an idea on how much the Driver's side door panels would be? Mine are kinda...falling apart, uncool.

I had the same problem with peeling handles. I thought about replacing them then put it off for a while but I mentioned to my service advisor that I wanted to get the OEM wood ones and he got mad and said he'd just replace them for me, under warranty :-P so now i'm happy and the car is happy hehe
but if it ever happens again I might do the black, it looks a lot better! good thinking

It does look pretty interesting (I have the Tan Leather in a '99 Black Magic) ...
But WTF did you do to your originals? They are filthy, peeling, look like shiit! Mine are over 5 years old, I have 105K, and mine look near new. (of course my outside paint from the 405 looks lite crap! Yours at least is easier to fix! LOL!)
I just clean mine a couple times a year with various leather and plastic auto interior cleaners I have lying around....
Look nice with the additional contrast....
But whats with the yellow smily dude? :D

Looks nice. Not sure why VW used that thin covering on the tan interior door handles. The peeling is horrible. They should have just left it alone.
Be glad you don't have the GLX or wood package. The driver's door with the wood strip runs about $92 retail. I think Impex had it listed for about $68 or so. I have been putting this mod off because of this. Not sure how odd it would look without the wood on the driver's door. The driver's door wood is not an insert/cover like the 3 passenger doors. The passenger doors are no problem becuase the wood cover is a snap in like the tan and black ones.
Once again - great job :)
Are those new handles painted like the original beige ones? I could never understand why VW painted the handles. Like they expected the paint NOT to wear off???
I have tried to take all the paint off mine, but they still look bad.
How long did it take to replace all 4 handles?

Looks good but I guess I had too much free time on my hands.
So I sanded all the gunky paint of of mine. The I took my time went to Advanced auto part found a can of Duplicolor vinyl and interior paint in "medium gray" and repainted them after I stripped the paint.
Now they look just like OEM so if I never said that I repainted them you would think my interior was in A1 condition. 8) My work has stood up for 6 months now so I hope the paint job continues to hold up I went as thick as I could the interior paint seems to have some sort of rubberizing agent if you don't get rid of all the old paint it will cause it to peel.
Like I said too much free time.
But I will agree the cars need it because most of them are not that old and there is no need for the interior to look that shabby.
Ah...

You would be proud, I am working on it now. Just stopped for a second to get something to drink. Is it ok if I run to the store to get a tool? :-P
I will keep you posted, then everyone else. :D
