I wrote an article on the Passat for LA CAR. It doesn't have everything, but it's got the history of the B5 and B5.5, a summary of some of the more significant reviews by Consumer Reports, Edmunds, Car and Driver, etc., the notorious Accord vs. Camry vs. Passat focus group session reported in Newsweek, picking the best buys among the available Passats, who should and shouldn't buy a Passat, its V6 power disadvantages compared to some of its competitors, chipping the 1.8T (and a link to a separate article on chipping), and a link to the definitive Passat owners site, ClubB5.com.

I have the fortune of driving a Passat TDI for seven days. The low-end torque on this car is awesome. It allows me do things during rush-hour traffic that I will never try on my chipped 1.8T. If I were in the market for a new Passat, it would be the TDI. Unfortunately, it's not sold in California.
