Other cars have an appearance that is displeasing to just about everybody, such as the Pontiac Aztek, a classic ugly car...
    Exactly.

When shopping for our last car, I took the opportunity to thoroughly examine an Asstek. They could be very very handy vehicles for some people. However, the Honda Element was much more handy for our situation, and although not pretty, it grows on you. I did buy it in spite of its looks - and the oddity of it nearly kept us from considering it at all. You'll probably only see "ugly" cars molded to niche markets. The bulk of sales will continue to be very dull an non-offensive. Sometimes the boring sameness of cars is more ugly than the rare "ugly" car. I'd welcome some variety.

I am still having difficulty distinguishing between "ugly" & "unique" in some of these cars ... :suspicio:

ugly: anything that uses excessive plastic accents... IE: avalanche, element, etc... (I find the passats lower skirts somewhat ugly)

Along with this topic, what's the "ugliest" car you can admit to liking?

For me, the Isuzu VehiCross is strangely appealing. But I can't bring myself to like the new Infiniti FX45.

What ever happened to such lovely, classicly styled cars that still would only appeal to a small percentage? Like the BMW 2002. Cars that ignite a passion when driven (read: not appliances like Accords), but yet were still beautiful cars (read: not a new 7series)?
