The More Than More Battlewagen [and trailer]!

    Greetings ladies and gents!

My name is Sam Dobbins, or sdobbins on the internet. I am a photographer by trade and passion, and co-own a company called More Than More with fellow photographer, Anna Taylor.

I come from a long lineage of gearheads, and have been playing the VAG game since around 2005 when I purchased my first Volkswagen, a 1995 Passat GLX. Shortly after I converted over to a Mk3 Golf, and eventually found my true love to be within the Mk2 generation, and honed in on a particular Mk2 Jetta Coupe for the better half of a decade. During that period I focused on pursuing a career as a photographer, and bought my first camera in 2005 and haven't looked back since. But that's enough on that, let us move onto the car that brought me here!

I've owned this 2004 GLX Wagon since May 1st, 2010, when I purchased it from a dear friend who'd already installed the coils and Votex front. That fall I spent the month of September traveling about the US photographing cars for Performance VW Magazine as well as my annual calendar, eventually making my way to H2O Int'l. Since then, the wagon has served as an insanely comfortable snowboarder carrier, been used to film a movie we produced last year called More Than A Drive, and most recently—after its makeover—carry our company around the country to various shows in 2012 and now 2013 as well.

    Here's a brief photo chronology...

    Cheers!

They were just an ordinary set of Helios bolted straight up without spacers or anything.

Thank you, sir! I wasn't quite sure were to make a proper intro, as some forums prefer it be in the noob typa section. And yes, all the photos are of the same car, just in varying states, chronologically and geographically, haha!

It'll be there again, we were just talking about that journey tonight, in fact! Hopefully this year we won't inadvertently do the Tail of the Dragon at 6:30am with the Brits behind us in the Touareg with nav, hahaha!

Oh man, as a fellow photographer and VW'er we need to meet up at sowo this year! I'd love to get together and talk cameras and cars. Your wagon looks beautiful and your shots are incredible. I love the clean look of the car. Where are you staying at sowo?

Nice wagon. I missed it at sowo last year but I'll look for it next May.

Do you have pics of your mk2 coupe? That's my favorite older VW platform. I have a 91 GTI and a 90 Corrado, both under the knife

    Thanks guys!

Here's the Jetta Coupe I previously built. Started with a completely gutted shell and truckbed full of parts. Built a 11.5:1 9A 16v for it, skimmed decked and head, header, euro exhaust cam, Megasquirt standalone, poly/solid mounts everywhere, Girling 60 dual piston calipers and oversized rotors, Ultra Lows, Eibach sways, Trophy Recaro interior, Euro diesel console, Heckeblende, etc, etc, haha. It had everything from widen steelies to TH Lines to Sportmax 513s, but broken down before I could mount the TH's. In fact I never even did a proper shoot with it when it was done, just brought it to a few shows and then it died. haha.

Dude I could have sworn you got rid of the battlewagen... For a MKIV.

I sort of met you a few H2Oi's ago, when we rented the condo between the Syndicate guys.

No man, that was just a little hoax that Derek from Broke.Status and I inadvertently started by posting photos of each other's cars, so we rolled with it. I do love that Jetta though, haha.

As for H2O a few years ago, if it was Saturday evening, I regret to inform you I began blacking out pretty early and most definitely don't remember.

It was indeed that fateful Saturday night, that's why I said I "sort of" met you hahah. We had just gotten back from Seacrets and we were BS'ing with Wyman, Houck and Steve the handsome brit when you came to life for a few moments. Someone moved their car and I told you to get a rolling shot of it from the trash can you were hugging.

If you're not hammered at some point in the weekend at H2O you're doing something wrong!

Hahahaha! That sounds about right for that evening! It's funny too, because the year after that, at H2O 2011 I had all of 3 beers the entire weekend. Last year was a happy medium though.
