Hello folks, Can you please take a look at the photos of my 1999 V6 AHA cam chain timing & tell me if it looks correct to you?
In a short story: I lost the timing belt & damaged some intake valves on the car. I removed both cylinder heads & replaced them with remanufactured head from Cylinder Heads International. The rebuilt heads did not come with the timing chains or cam chain adjusters so I had to remove the cams & set up the chain roller spacing & install it all back on the head. I put everything back together & now the engine starts right up and doesn't skip or anything but it is making a ticking noise which I think is coming from the passenger side head. I have gotten the engine up to operating temp. & the noise does not go away. One morning I started it in 35 degree outside temps. & it did not tick at all for a few minutes but as the oil temp warmed up the ticking sound was back.
So at this point I am concerned that either my cam chain timing is off a roller or my cam chain tension adjuster is not working correctly. I notice when I turn the engine over by hand I do get a little oil or oil bubbles coming out of where the piston on the CCT fits inside the housing of the CCT. Perhaps a bad seal & oil pressure leaking by?
If you guys could take at look at the number of rollers I have between the cam timing marks & let me know or any other advice you could give would be great!
Thank you
I took the photos with the engine at TDC. That red mark on the timing chain is from some work the previous owner had done.
