No, I wasn't going to add a write up. The problem is that you have to scroll to the right to see all the pictures. I'll have to work on my format when I post. All pictures tell the story. If you still have questions, I'll take 'em.

My mirror switch doesn't work in my 01 B5.5. Should I definitely replace the switch or is it possible that it could be a blown fuse? If so, where can I find that fusebox + fuse? Thank you.

 

I tried to removed mine like this a few years ago, could not get it out. But it's not very hard to removed the door liner. There are bolts under the door pull, and around the door liner, then just pull the door liner.

 

It is not common for these switches to fail, it's gotta be something else that's wrong.

I managed to kick the knob off mine while exiting the car. I have no idea how.

 

i was gonna post pics of me doing this.. it was broke when i got the car, now its not. he beat me to it. now i need to fix my driver side mirror repeater

 

I was able to pop off the rounded section of the door handle trim using my hands, then I used 2 micro screw drivers to wedge under the clips and replace the switch from the backside. Took around 3 minutes, and no scratches to worry about.

 

My 2002 Passat had a broken knob shaft when I bought the car. Found a supplier on ebay who offered these whose price was about the same (about $23.00 including shipment). I was pleased to see it was an OEM part made in Italy (at worst I thought it might be a Chinese copy). Easy installation, just like the photos.
