    Climatronic Self-Diagnosis Reference Guide

    Hey you all,

In the course of helping another W8 owner diagnose a Climatronic issue, I finally translated the comprehensive guide to all the stand-alone functions available in the Climatronic head unit. I dug the German-language original up at dieselschrauber.de a couple years ago, but never got around to translating it. Actually I was 90% done once and accidentally overwrote the translation with the original file.

Anyhow, here it is: Click Me

My labels do not exactly match the labels in the VAG-COM file, (found here) but the meaning is the same... there is more climatronic data available from the head unit than via VAG-COM, BTW... without a computer! If you have an oil sensor, you can display that, too.

    Enjoy!

Unless you're baking a cake on the console

really - mine were wacky like that too - everything works though so I didn't worry about it. I just doesn't seem quite right though.

Well, my A/C doesn't cool as good as it should, and my electric fans have gone hay-wire.

    There's a decimal point.
    12.3
    18.3
    18.0
    35.0
and 33.0 are all acceptable values.

    Two things-

I did a Climatronic Internal Error Memory test today and got the following code:

    513 Gateway

    What does this mean?

    And.....

I noticed I was able to access a different Climatronic mode today when I pressed ECON, COLDER, and FAN SPEED UP buttons simultaneously. A list pf 10 options are accessed via the warmer/colder buttons. The fan speed buttons changed each option's numerical value, which were either positive or negative.

    What the heck is this??

    TIA,

    mike

    Interesting... must investigate.

I've been looking for, but have not found a copy of the German-language-only SSP for the Climatronic. There might be info there.

I found a copy today of said SSP today, but alas, it's from the B3/4 Passat era, and has no specific information about the channels or options on the B5/5.5 climatronic head units. It actually refers you to the heating self-diagnostics section of the service manual for the car... but I don't think Bentley has that info in there.

Sadly, no closer to knowing anything about the other menu.
