How do you adjust trunk lid stops?

Does anyone here know how to adjust the spring-loaded trunk lid stops/bumpers? I see they have multiple ridges along the side, but I can't turn them in or out.

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    John

If you're talking about the struts on both sides of the trunk by the trunk hinges, they are not adjustable. If you can see that oil has leaked out the struts, then they need replaced. Also, there is a TB on the trunk hinges binding, making the trunk difficult to open. If your under warranty, VW will replace the hinges and any bad struts free.

Thanks for the info, but I was actually talking about the rubber stopper-like pads on the closing edge of the trunk lid. They make contact with the chrome strip just inside the trunk.

    Any ideas?

The ones under the hood (i know you wanted trunk) just turn.
I'll look at the trunk later, when I replace belly pan and airfilter on my W8.

There is a torx screw inside the rubber. Once you take them out, you'll be able to pull the rubber stoppers out all the way. Close the trunk without latching it in and put the screws back in.
