Removing drivers side floor panel for wiring

I am trying to hook up an amp + sub in the rear of my '99 1.8t but I just cannot figure out how to remove the floor panel on the drivers side so that I can send my rca cables back. I'm not even sure if it is called a floor panel... It's the plastic that covers all the wires that are sent to the trunk.

It's the plastic piece in this pic right above the blue and black.

Also, is the remote wire of the 6 cd-changer fine for tapping for the remote wire of the amp?

It's mostly held in place with spring fasteners. You basically just need to get your fingers under the lip and slide them along till you find the clip, and pull straight up. Don't be surprised if you break off a few of those fasteners in the process.
