    Help with Eqs

I need some input on EQs, Im looking for a good din mountable one, that may or MAY NOT (for a while at least) be used with an amp.

First is it alright to use a passive eq pre-LOC/post-Amp or should i really only look at active ones,

Second, im contantly fiddling with eq, you think i should go with a large amount of bands on a graphic EQ, or a good quality parametric.

Third, any specific suggestions on an EQ, and how much does price determine quality here?

    TIA
    -Adam

Go w/ the Alpine ERa G320 - it's waht I'm saving up for. 14 front freq or 7 front and 7 back. Presets/BBE/time delay/bass control....and sweet looking to boot. eBay is the place to find 'em. Honestly, it should serve most people's purposes....

but you will need an amp with it. IMO eq's with a built in amp are junk. no more power than your factory HU so really what's the point. Look for a unit with 11 bands or so. Any less than that and you could do the same tone shaping with your HUs ass and treble controls and any more is hard to adjust while driving. I would not add an eq untill you add an amp, it's a waste of money.

Woah!!! wheres the ass control?!?! I could use some more of that in the car

I got an amp, im just debating using it. There are passive EQs i believe which just subtract from the speaker level wires.

So you would go linear not parametric??

Ass control....heat seater maybe? lol Anyway, if you plan on messing eith it from the driver's seat while driving DO NOT get a parametric eq. It's takes way too much concentration to adjust a parametric while driving. For use while driving a regular 11-band graphic eq would be perfect.
