I have a 03 passat wagon with a set of audi a4 17in sport rims on. Needing new tires and was going to put on 225/45 instead of the 235/45 that is already on them, which were also used from the original owner who had them on his a4. All fitment charts call for a 225 for my car with 17in rims. Will these rims have issues with mounting 225 instead of 235?
No problem putting 225s on. You mat want to look at the offset on the wheels (it will be preceded by "ET" somewhere on the back of the wheels). Our cars usually can accept an offset of between 35 and 45. The higher the number the closer the wheel will be to the inner suspension. I think the Sport wheels will be OK.
Mine fit on with no problem. Bolted right on like as if stock. The current 235 inner tire wall is pretty close to control arms and tire rods, but no rubbing and rides fine. Just hoping the 225s will fit the rim?
I was wondering if a 225/45 will fit on a a4 sport rim? Originally it had a 235/45, but the size charts are telling me to use a 225/45 with a 17in for my car. What is a 45 or 47et?
Yes, it'll fit just fine. Offset 45 is 47 mm. Stock is 35
