With so many unrelated faults, I wonder if you have a ground or voltage regulator problem.

When my ECU power relay was starting to go bad, I got various engine fault codes, but nothing else.

I recently got the "ABS intermittent to instrument cluster" that you reported, but I cleared it two weeks ago and it has not returned. I am told this is the early warning of a failing ABS module, so I am bracing for that.

Unless your car was recently hit by lightning, I doubt you have that many actual faults. Two things: The ABS module is well known for interfering with signals from other devices. Disconnect the electrical connector at the bottom of the electronic module. Also, low voltage can throw this car for a loop. How old is the battery? Clean the battery posts and terminals, and measure the voltage with engine off, and on. Reset all the codes, and see what comes back.

#5 ·
Yes, I should have included the battery with my ground fault and voltage regulator / alternator suggestion. As others have experienced, a bad ABS can indeed trigger all sorts of weird codes.

#7 ·
It's also possible you had all the "intermittent" codes before, but the CEL was off. Once one code cause the light to go off, you scanned the car.
IMO the code that caused the MIL to iluminate is the lean code. Check your vacuum lines.
And your ABS module is probably going bad.

#8 ·
So I finally got some time to do some work/checking. Found a vacuum hose that came loose under intake. That took care of some codes. Now doing the abs module. I must be stupid, for the life of me I can not get the bottom electrical connector off. Any tips? I don't want to break it. I am proud to say that I was able to get all 6 screws out without drilling a hole in the fender well.

Ok.... Replaced the camshaft position sensor and got rid of a delayed start issue and that seemed to have gotten rid of my cel (good for 2 weeks now). Got my rebuilt abs module back from cheap abs....ABS and brake lights immediately went out for 2 days and have been on/off daily ever since. I am going to clear legacy codes tonight and do a full scan and re-post. I talked to Matt@ Cheapabs and he seems to think that there may be something else wrong that is causing the abs/traction control/ brake light indicators to beep and flash. Hope it something inexpensive and easy, I need to get my inspection by the end of the month.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.

Here is my latest scan after getting the abs module back from cheapabs and clearing codes. I have also noticed that my shift from 2-3 is taking longer and sometimes shifts with a "jolt".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Talked to Matt at cheap abs and he is sending me another module. For the 17887 - Brake Boost Vacuum System, I am building a leak tester and should be able to test this weekend. For 18158 - Supply Voltage, I am going to check the fuses and ground straps.

If anyone can think of anything else, let me know.

Thanks, for all the help.

17887 - Brake Boost Vacuum System P1479 - 008 - Mechanical Failure
Check vac lines, check valves, and vacuum booster pump if fitted; could also be a faulty booster.

18158 - Supply Voltage P1750 - 003 - too Low - Intermittent
This is often caused by disconnecting something while working on the car, or allowing the battery to get too low.

Update:
For the trans supply voltage, I first cleaned the 3 main ground points (chassis, alternator, and transmission), still had the code and delayed/hard shift from 2-3.

For ABS erros, I got back the new/used module from Matt at CheapABS.com, popped it in and all the abs/brake/traction control lights went out. Oddly I did not even have to reprogram the unit. Also interestingly enough, the supply voltage vag com error went away also. Thanks alot Matt@cheapABS. Good deal. 2 for 1.

I have the leak/boost tester ready and waiting for it to stop raining so I can check the Brake Boost vacuum. Will update again this weekend.

I got a couple of new codes after clearing, but will unltimately start a new thread for those.

PassatWorld is the best. Thanks everyone!
