Hello everyone, I'm from Ireland and have just bought my first Passat its a 2000 1.6 Petrol B5 Variant/Estate/Wagon (my 5th VW).
Bought this in December 2012 its had 2 owners from new last owner had it 7 years, really nice car, drives very nice but it is a little slow....
A few little jobs to do to smarten it up but nothing major.
Job list:
Lowering springs or coil-overs if I can afford them.
Interior - DONE-ish
Replace Drivers side headlight - Done
Fog Lights
Lacquer peel and body coded rubbing strips. Might go for full respary
Picked up some freebie seats. The rear seats had old engine oil spilled on them after the previous owner removed them his Passat, hence he gave away the 2 seats for nothing 8-)
The drivers seat in my was in bits with a huge rip in it plus one of the adjusting leavers had broken and it was kinda stuck in the one position.
Tools needed: 10mm socket, Needle-nose pliers, cup of coffee and a smoke.
Took about an hour and 30 minutes including hoovering, carpet & dash cleaning etc, etc. I was expecting an Airbag light to come on, but thankfully not.
New seats,
Old ones out, as you can see it was fairly nasty, but its an excellent chance to give it a really good clean as you can get places that are usually inaccessible.
Done, Seats are still wet in this pic
Up next was replacing the headlight, it had a hairline crack in it that had let in some water and over time had completely destroyed the lamp.
Really simple job about 10 minutes work
Not a great pic, old lamp
All out!!
Replacement in, nice and shinyIts made an incredible difference when driving at night.
All these little jobs where made sooooooo much easier thanks to guides I found on here, thanks to anyone who wrote the guides.![]()
That's it for now.
Up next Lowering![]()
