Does the Audi B5 1.8T engine = VW passat 1.8T awm engine?

I have been tinkering with the vacuum system on my VW Passat wagon 2001.5 1.8T awm engine after some plastic hoses cracked. I came across this article in the audi forums(link below). The diagrams in the article look similar to my VW passat vacuum system. Before I start deleting and simplifying my VW emission system, Does anyone know if this emission simplification would apply to VW engines? It is a pretty easy to follow guide on how to bypass alot of the plastic parts.

I've been through this headache when my engine blew up. Here's the deal. The part number for the WHOLE engine is different between the VW AWM engine and the Audi AWM engine. If you split them into the long and short block (ie two separate parts), THEN the part numbers are an exact match. So yes, the Audi AWM and VW AWM engine are the same. The only difference is the Audi engine has an oil sensor at the bottom of the oil pan.
