Won't rev past 1200 RPM after battery died.

    1999 1.8T Passat Wagon

I left my lights on yesterday and killed my battery. Unfortunately I ended up having to buy a new battery.
Now, it seems to idle much lower than normal and when I went to just drive it around the parking lot it would only rev up to about 1200 RPM then it suddenly drops in RPM very quickly. After messing with it a little bit I am getting a check engine light but I need to get my code reader out of storage so I can retrieve the trouble code.
It is just really odd because it was running great up until I killed the battery. I read another thread that the computer needs some time to "re-learn" but I am just not sure about this.

The throttle body and engine computer may have lost calibration with each other.

Pretty sure your car went into limp mode. You probably shorted something out when jump starting it.

x2, ^this^ Find someone with a VAGCOM and it will take less than 5 minutes to fix.

Not very well on the 98-99 DBC engines.

Ended up having to take it to the mechanic to have them adjust the Throttle Body. They ended up cleaning it and reprogramming it and that ended up fixing it.
"Door Open, Hood Up, Key" trick didn't work at all.
