    B5.5 CAN Gateway Coding Tip

So I was checking out the coding on some of the control modules in the Passat and came across the CAN gateway module. There was no pop-up bubble to help with the coding and so I went to the Ross-Tech website and looked up the possible coding.

    19 - CAN Gateway: -- KWP-1281
Look at the last digit in the coding. Add the values for the options together to get the correct coding.

    0 - No available equipment
    +1 - Automatic Transmission
    +2 - ABS Brakes
    +4 - Airbags

So, if you want to support Automatic Transmission, ABS Brakes, and Airbags, (add 1+2+4 = 7) = 00007.

Interestingly enough, I have the AT, ABS Brakes, and Airbags, and thought the coding would be 00007, but upon inspection saw that it was coded as 00006, with the AT excluded. Why would this be? I would think I should just change it to 7 and just wanted to check here first.

    Ross-Tech Typo?

I wouldn't change it, but that's me. Although whats the worst that could happen, the car won't start?

Reasonable suggestions, thanks. If someone has a stored log from the last scan they ran on their B5.5 automatic on their computer, could they check to see what their CAN gateway is coded as? Thanks!
