    1. there will be a big indented hole there.
    2. put tape(alot) on the paint so you dont scratch the sh!t out of it.
    3. take a pic.
    4. post it.
    5. have a beer & call it a day.

Dental floss or fishing line work well.

thats front to rear sizing. im talking about rear to rear. i found one in the garage so i put it over my b5 one to see the sizing diffrence and its only a small diffrence. but the rubber around the emblem on the b4 will cover the whole area on the b5. the diffrence to the b4 to b5 is that the b4 was held on with thin double sided tape in which when removed there is no recess, and on the b5 there is a recess

but the b4 emblems come just like you posted for the people that dont want to try painting,

    Do NOT use a screwdriver!!!!

Roll on up with a hair dryer (on HOT) on a hot day, and slide some floss behind the emblem. It'll cut like cheesecake.

Peeling off the rest of the adhesive is very easy with the application of some "Goo-gone".

^^^^^ you know are rear emblems are in dented to the truck and fluss sometimes break with this method. a nice fishing line would work but with out the hair dryer and on a hot day or where your car was sitting in the sun where its ho9t to the touch

Im glad I just saw this. Im fixing to take mine off and add the blue and white emblem I would have used a screw driver, but now I think I will use the fishing line

I'm gettting ready to do the same thing on my B5 Variant. Does anybody know if they make a all black VW emblem exactly like the one pictured above for the B5 Variant hatch? Or at least what size I would need to look for? Thanks!

You'd probably have to take yours off and custom paint it yourself

no one has confermed a positive size on this. but having the b4 one in my hand and putting it over the b5 one its just slightly smaller say a 1/4 inch if not less from the b5. or a 1/8th of and inch all the way around the circumfrance
