I was thinking of rotating my tires myself but don't have a torque wrench. Can i hand tightin them, then bring to a shop to torque them down.

Are your tires wearing unevenly? If so, get an alignment. If they're not, why bother rotating?

Harbor freight usually has torque wrenches for $20.

I guess our front tires do wear out a lot faster than the rears.

I was able to get a Husky torque wrench from HomeDepot for $65. Its a heavy a$$ tool too. Goes from 15-225 lb/ft. 1/2" drive, and I can say that its easy to use, and the quality is great.

I purchased that same one myself! Worked great on the Eibach spring/damper install 2 weeks ago!

    How much do you weigh?

Torque for wheel lugs is around 80 ft-lbs, so figure what percentage of your weight is 80 lbs and multiply that percentage by 12 inches. That will tell you how far out on the lug wrench to stand to torque them down properly. For me it is about 8".

Umm, thats too much math. Just get a wrench and you wont be unhappy. also, if you have any naughty children, that could be used in another manner. JK.

Speaking of torque wrenches, Harbor Freight has the 1/2" clicker on sale for $11.97 (in stores, not on the website). Sale ends Monday, May 12, 2003.
