My 2007 2.0 Passat TDi with BMP engine code broke its crankshaft at 130,000km. This happened after the engine became progressively more noisy over a month or so. Local agents thought the noise was a "Diesel knock" caused by an injector.
My problem with the overhauled engine is that it is very underpowered and the exhaust smoke is grey/white in colour and you can smell the diesel fumes from it. Fuel consumption is also very bad (between 16-25 l/100). Various plugged in computers from local garages and auto electricians did not show any problem with any of the sensors, timing etc. The car was only driven for approximately 100km or so with the overhauled motor and that caused the DPF to block. The local VW agent confirmed that all pipes and wiring were connected correctly and the only problem they could find was the blocked DPF. After that I have replaced the injector wiring harness as well as injector seals. During this time I discovered that the movable cap on top of the Bosch injector of piston 3 was broken. All symptoms remained the same after the new injector seals etc. but the car might have a little bit more power, but far from what it should be like. The local Bosch diesel electric center had a look at the car today and the only problem they found was the blocked DPF.
I still believe that the blocked DPF is because of some other unknown problem that caused it to block and replacing the DPF won't solve the core problem. Any advice will be appreciated.
