Used middle muffler off my wagon removed at 80K $40:

They are an excellent mod, all you have to do is actually not cut but re-drill the hole as Passat is not as wide as A6...

They have to be cut down by 25mm on both ends and tapered or they won't clear the mounting bracket when installed. Two innermost end bores can be reused, and two new ones, 25mm inside the original inner bores (center to center), are needed and your done.

With a hacksaw, drill and a metal file, the mod takes all of about 15 minutes to prep, and about the same time to install.
